MOBILE, Ala. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team had its five-game winning streak snapped Wednesday at Stanky Field, 10-3, by South Alabama.
Southeastern (9-8) opened the game with back-to-back hits on the way to picking up a run in the first inning, but the Jaguars (12-5) answered with five runs of their own in the bottom of the inning.
Ben Robichaux led off the game with an opposite-field double, advancing to third base on the first of
Giovanni Licciardi's three hits. Robichaux scored on a double-play grounder.
South Alabama sent nine batters to the plate in the first, taking advantage of an error and a pair of hit batters to score five runs on a pair of hits.
The Lions narrowed the gap to 5-3 with single runs in the third and fifth.
Brooks Wright was hit by a pitch leading off the third inning.
Blaise Priester drew a walk, putting a pair on for the Lions. Wright scored on Licciardi's RBI single through the left side.
In the fifth, Robichaux drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on Licciardi's infield single. After moving to third on a passed ball, Robichaux scored on another double-play grounder.
South Alabama responded with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Jaguars tacked on single runs in the sixth and eighth.
Max Miller (2-1) earned the win, tossing 2.1 innings in relief and allowing one unearned run. He surrendered one hit and walked three batters, striking out three.
Nik Toups (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing five runs – four earned – in 1.0 inning pitched.
Licciardi (3-for-5) and Wright (2-for-3) produced multiple hits for the Lions.

Southeastern returns to Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field for a four-game homestand, opening with a Southland Conference series against Stephen F. Austin. Games against the Lumberjacks are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
Following the SFA series, the Lions host No. 9-ranked Oklahoma, March 17, at 6 p.m.
