Southeastern (3-2) closes tournament Sunday at 9 a.m. (CST) versus No. 5 Oregon on MLB Network

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The two-time reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team claimed victories over Rutgers and Boston College on day three of the NFCA Leadoff Classic Saturday evening at the Eddie C. Moore Complex.

Southeastern (3-2) extended its win streak to three games with wins over a pair of opponents from Power Four conferences.

In the opening game of the day, SLU held off Big Ten Conference member Rutgers (2-2) for a 4-3 victory. Cydnee Schneider led Southeastern at the plate with two hits, while Shelby Morris, Ka'Lyn Watson and Shenita Tucker each drove in runs.

Cera Blanchard (2-0) earned her second win in as many games, allowing seven hits and striking out a pair in four innings of work. Tyler Oubre came in and tossed a scoreless fifth inning, before Haley Crawford earned her first save as a Lady Lion with two innings of shutout relief.

Southeastern scored six runs in the first two innings and never looked back in a 10-1 run-rule victory over Boston College (1-3), a member of the ACC. Watson hit her second home run of the season, as she and Shelby Morris each had two hits.

Maria Detillier led SLU with three RBI, while Schneider and Watson each drove in a pair. Morris scored a game-high three runs for the Lady Lions, while Watson scored two.

The trio of Macie LaRue, Hallie Burns (1-0) and Crawford combined to hold the Eagles to four hits in the victory.
