HAMMOND, La. – Wide receiver Sebastian Easley and defensive back Dayshawn McGee will continue their athletic and academic endeavors as members of the Southeastern Louisiana University football program, SLU head football coach
Frank Scelfo announced Tuesday.
Easley (6-3, 170, Kennesaw, Ga.) and McGee (6-2, 185, Biloxi, Miss.) join the previously announced 22 December signees to bolster the 2026 signing class. Scelfo was pleased with the additions Southeastern made during the signing periods and additions through the transfer portal.
"We feel like we've addressed some needs at certain positions, which is important," Scelfo commented. "But the best thing we did is added to the culture, by believing in the things we value – responsibility, accountability and work ethic. All of these young men we've brought in have exhibited the character we're looking for from members of our program, helping ensure continued success."
Southeastern made its fourth FCS playoff appearance and finished 19
th in the final FCS polls after a 9-4 season in 2025. SLU's 13-2 Southland Conference record over the past two seasons is the league's best.
Easley is currently a senior at North Cobb High School, where he is a standout on the football team, as well as a sprinter on the track and field team. His athleticism makes him a great fit for the SLU offense, according to Scelfo.
"Sebastian is a long, tall wideout with great speed," Scelfo stated. "He got hurt midway through his senior season, but the rehab process has gone well for him. He's a dynamic player who we think will cause some matchup problems on the outside."
McGee comes to Hammond by way of Copiah-Lincoln Community College, where he finished with nine pass breakups and three interceptions this past fall. McGee prepped at Biloxi High School, playing football, basketball and running track.
"Dayshawn is a big cornerback with some versatility," Scelfo said. "We think he has the ability to play some safety and nickel for us as well. Dayshawn has a lot of maturity and experience and will provide some needed length on the outside."
