SAN MARCOS, Texas – The two-time reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team split a non-conference doubleheader Friday evening at Bobcat Softball Stadium.
SLU (14-6) opened the day with a 4-0 shutout of the host Bobcats (11-7). In the nightcap, the hosts edged the Lady Lions, 1-0.
Cera Blanchard threw a complete-game shutout in the opener. The Metairie, Louisiana native scattered six hits and struck out two to earn the victory.
Brilee Ford and
Maria Detillier each hit home runs to allow SLU to take the series opener.
Kailey Dixon also drove in a run for the Lady Lions, as she,
Chloe Magee and
Veronica Puckett each finished with two hits apiece.
Blanchard (6-1) got the start in the nightcap and gave up a first-inning home run to Aiyana Coleman. Blanchard,
Tyler Oubre,
Haley Crawford,
Bre Clark and
Hallie Burns combined to hold the Bobcats to three hits.
SLU out-hit TSU, 7-3, in the nightcap, but was stymied by three double plays in the loss.
Shenita Tucker led the Lady Lions with two hits.
The series wraps up Saturday at noon. The series finale will be televised on ESPN+.
