Defending SLC Champs Open Defense of Title at Northwestern State

NATCHITOCHES, La. – The defending Southland Conference champion Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team opens conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Northwestern State.

Games against the Demons (5-4, 0-0 SLC) are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at Brown-Stroud Field, with all three slated for coverage on ESPN+.

Fans can listen to all the Southeastern (2-6, 0-0 SLC) baseball action on KSLU 90.9 The Lion, online at either www.LionSports.net/listenlive or www.LionUpRadio.org, via the following apps – Lions Gameday Experience, Live365, iHeart, Audacy, TuneIn and MyTuner Radio - or on Alexa speakers (skill must be enabled first). Brady St. Pierre (0-2, 9.00) earned the Friday night starter's role for the Lions. The sophomore right-hander from LaPlace, Louisiana is the reigning Southland Conference Relief Pitcher of the Year. He will oppose Northwestern State sophomore left-hander Carter White (0-1, 5.23).

Lakin Polk (1-1, 8.00), a senior right-hander from Ponchatoula, Louisiana, draws the starting assignment for Saturday's contest opposite Demon junior right-hander Dylan Marionneaux (0-1, 4.22).

Blake Lobell (0-0, 5.00) is slated to start the series finale for the Lions. The senior right-hander from Springfield, Louisiana earned All-Conference honors last season. He matches up against Northwestern State redshirt senior right-hander Trent Hillen (1-1, 8.64).

SLU is led at the plate by Connor Cuff (.276, 2 RBI), Alex Perry (.259, 8 RBI) and Brody Capps (2.33, 3 HR, 7 RBI).

The Demons' top offensive threats at the plate are Brock Davis (.375, 3 HR, 5 RBI), Brooks Leonard (.355, 5 RBI), Colin Rains (.353, 4 RBI) and Thomas Marsala III (.325, 3 HR, 7 RBI).
