HAMMOND, La. – The defending Southland Conference champion Southeastern Louisiana University baseball program hosts No. 20-ranked Southern Miss in a non-conference contest on ESPN+ dubbed King Cake at the Plate, Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
 
The Lions will be handing out free slices of king cake to the fans in attendance, while supplies last.

Southeastern (0-3) dropped all three games in its season-opening series with defending Mid-American Conference champion Kent State.
 
Hitting .231 as a team, SLU is led at the plate by Lakin Polk (.600), Connor Cuff (.417, 1 RBI), Peyton Woods (.375, 1 RBI) and Alex Perry (.375, 2 RBI).
 
The Golden Eagles (2-1) picked up a pair of victories at home over UC Santa Barbara this past weekend.
 
Southern Miss is hitting .258 as a team, led by Joey Urban (..455, 1 HR, 2 RBI), Drey Barrett (.417, 1 HR, 1 RBI) and Caleb Stelly (.333, 1 RBI).

Southeastern continues its season-opening, eight-game homestand this coming weekend at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field, hosting Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. Games against SIUE are slated for 6 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
 
Kids age 12 and under can stand on the field during the series opener with their favorite Lion player for the national anthem as part of the Friday Funday promotion. Fans will be able to play baseball bingo during Saturday's contest, with the first 25 winners claiming a prize. Sunday is Military Appreciation Day. One complimentary ticket will be given out per valid military ID.
