YOUNGSVILLE, La. – The two-time reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion and No. 25 Southeastern Louisiana University softball team opened play at the Mardi Gras Mambo with an 11-0 run-rule victory over Eastern Illinois Thursday night at the Youngsville Sports Complex.
SLU (5-3) batted around in each of the first two innings on the way to the victory. The Lady Lions held EIU (2-4) to two hits in their second shutout win of 2026.
Reigning Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week
Hallie Burns (3-0) claimed the win, striking out three and allowing one hit in three innings of work.
Bre Clark tossed two shutout innings of relief to secure the shutout.
Colleen Kulivan led Southeastern at the plate, finishing 2-for-2 with a team-high four RBI.
Cydnee Schneider and
Katherine Thiessen added two hits apiece for SLU.

Chloe Magee,
Maria Detillier and
Addison Contorno each scored two runs apiece for the Lady Lions.
An RBI double by Schneider and a two-run single by Kulivan highlighted a six-run first inning for SLU against EIU starter Bryanna French (1-2). Kulivan's two-run triple was the key hit in a five-run second inning.
Thursday's contest was the first of five in Youngsville for Southeastern. SLU will take on Georgia State at 2 p.m. and New Mexico at 4 p.m. Friday.
