Southeastern Set to Host SUNO in Exhibition

The Lions will compete in an exhibition match against Southern-New Orleans, with the regular season set to begin next week

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team is set to preview the 2026-27 season Thursday at 6 p.m., when the Lions face off with Southern-New Orleans in the University Center.

SLU is entering the team's final week before the beginning of the regular season, with Southeastern set to begin the regular season in five days. Before that, the Lions will host the Knights for a 6 p.m. exhibition game on Thursday. Live stats for the exhibition will be available on the women's basketball schedule page. Fans can also listen to all the Southeastern action locally on KSLU 90.9 The Lion and worldwide online at either www.LionSports.net/listenlive or www.LionUpRadio.org, or via the following apps – the Lions Gameday Experience and MyTuner Radio.

The Lions will have five returners from the 2025-26 season, including scoring leader Aliyah Collins, who averaged 14.7 points per game last season, good for the fourth-best average in the Southland Conference. Rebounding leader Eryn McKinzie will also compete for SLU in her third collegiate season. Natalie Huff will return to Hammond, America, after putting together a solid first-year campaign with the Lions. Emma Lucio will take the court for the first time in her second season in green and gold, after missing the 2025-26 season.

The newest Southeastern team will have nine newcomers to Hammond, America. NCAA Division I transfers and high school standouts Micah Cooper and Lillian Merow are set to have a significant impact in their first season with SLU. Southeastern also added collegiate experience with the additions of juniors Susan Fahnbulleh, Yolaine Luthi, Diana Szakolczi, and Shaine Parker.

The Lions' exhibition match will tip off at 6 p.m. on Thursday against SUNO in the University Center. Southeastern will kick off its regular season on Monday, Nov. 2, when SLU travels to the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, La., to take on No. 9 LSU. The game will be televised on SEC Network and can be heard on KSLU 90.9 The Lion and www.LionSports.net/listenlive.
