FRISCO, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana University Volleyball team was recognized by the Southland Conference for the third straight week Monday, when Kyra McKelvey was named the Offensive Player of the Week.
 
With the Lions winning each of their last seven contests, Southeastern has won the conference's offensive weekly award for three consecutive weeks. McKelvey began October by winning the award, before Gracie Brown won last week's award after putting together one of the best weeks of her career.
 
In SLU's back-to-back victories over UIW and HCU, the senior ended the week with 35 kills, 13 digs, 12 blocks, and 41.5 points. In the Lions' five-set win at Incarnate Word, McKelvey posted a match-high 22 kills. The Navarre, Fla. native also notched a match-best mark with 13 kills in a four-set home win against the Huskies. McKelvey now has 15 matches with double-digit kills this season.
 
In 2026, the senior ranks fourth in the league in kills per set (3.38), and second in total kills (270). In terms of points, McKelvey averages 3.78 points per set for the sixth-best mark in the Southland. She is one of two players in the conference with over 300 total points, standing at 302 points through 80 sets.
 
McKelvey and the Lions will look to continue their seven-match streak during a two-match home stand in Hammond, America. SLU is set to host UTRGV (12-7, 8-0) in a battle between the conference's top-two seeds at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in the University Center. On Saturday, Southeastern will host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (6-13, 4-4 SLC) at 12 p.m. This week's matches will be available to watch on ESPN+.
 
Thursday's match against UTRGV will be Green Out night at the University Center. Fans are encouraged to pack the stands in green to support the Lions in their matchup with the Vaqueros.
