HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University football team celebrates Homecoming, welcoming No. 8/10 Lamar for a 4 p.m. Southland Conference contest Saturday in Strawberry Stadium.

Saturday's game versus the Cardinals, sponsored by North Oaks Health, will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM, The Boss 97.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM). The annual Homecoming parade is scheduled for noon.

Back at home for the first time since Sept. 12, SLU (3-3, 1-2 SLC) will be looking to bounce back from a 13-3 loss at UTRGV. Southeastern only punted once in the loss, but various mistakes in Vaquero territory put an end to the Lions' three-game winning streak.

SLU head coach Frank Scelfo will be coaching his 100th game at SLU Saturday, joining the legendary Stanley Galloway as the only coaches to reach that milestone in program history. The Lions are 4-3 on Homecoming under Scelfo.

Kyle Lowe has thrown for 1,081 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions to lead the SLU offense. Dkhai Joseph (31 catches, 306 yards, 2 TD), Tristan Goodly (16-152-1 TD) and Lonnie Shinn Jr. (14-179-4 TD) are the top targets in the pass game.

Deantre Jackson (259 yards), Chad Elzy Jr. (248-3 TD), Kyree Paul (162-1 TD), Calvin Smith Jr. (143-4 TD) and Lowe (129-1 TD) have all contributed to a steady ground game for Southeastern.

On defense, Carter Hanberry contnues to hold the team lead with 52 tackles, followed by Trace Carter (44), Kenneth Ford Jr. (37), Carter Byrd (36) and Jordan Okoye (34).

Byrd leads the team with two interceptions, while Ford Jr., Richard McKneely and Amiree Alexander share team-high honors with 3.5 tackles for loss apiece.

Joseph leads the SLC and is fourth nationally with 21.0 yards per punt return. Jack Hunter would be eighth nationally with a league-best 45.0 punting average if he had enough attempts to qualify for the FCS rankings.

Lamar (5-1, 3-0 SLC) held off a late rally for a 38-35 win over UIW - the fourth straight victory for LU.

Aiden McCown (995 yards, 10 TD, 6 INT) has handled the quarterbacking duties for Lamar with Blake Thomas (22 catches, 277 yards, 3 TD) and Davin Driskell (17-231-5 TD) the Cardinals' leading receivers.

Reigning SLC Offensive Player of the Week Jojo Uga (396 yards, 4 TD) is part of an efficient LU ground game with McCown (242-3 TD) and Parker Jenkins (229-3 TD).

Mar Mar Evans leads Lamar with 34 tackles and four pass breakups. TJ Nelson paces Lamar with four tackles for loss, while five different Cardinals have intercepted passes.

Southeastern leads the all-time series with Lamar, 14-6. However, the Cardinals have won two of the last three meetings, including a 14-12 decision last season in Beaumont, Texas – SLU's only SLC loss of 2025.

Lamar will be the first of two straight nationally-ranked Southland opponents Southeastern is set to face over the next two weeks. The Lions will take on No. 3 SFA next Saturday at 5 p.m. in Nacogdoches, Texas. The matchup with the Lumberjacks will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 97.7 FM)/WFPR 1400 AM).
