The Lions will look to extend their winning streak with road and home matchups

HAMMOND, La. – Following a five-match winning streak, the Southeastern Louisiana University Volleyball team will seek to continue its run of success in a split schedule, beginning Wednesday, when the Lions visit UIW in San Antonio, Texas, and ending Saturday at home against HCU.

The Lions (8-11, 5-1 SLC) have won each of their last five Southland Conference matchups, with wins over McNeese and Nicholls last week. Southeastern will take on UIW (7-8, 5-1 SLC) at the McDermott Center in San Antonio, Texas, Wednesday at 6 p.m. SLU will end the week by hosting HCU (2-16, 0-6 SLC) in the University Center at 11 a.m. Saturday. This week's matches will be livestreamed on ESPN+.

After totaling 22 kills, 13 blocks, 38 points, eight aces, and seven digs last week, Gracie Brown earned her first career SLC Offensive Player of the Week award. Brown and Kyra McKelvey, who won the previous week's offensive weekly award, will look to continue the team's success. McKelvey has remained one of the top offensive players in the conference, averaging the sixth-most kills per set (3.31) in the SLC.

Ashley Richardson has elevated herself to fourth in the Southland standings in assists per set at 7.77, with the setter notching 66 assists and 16 digs in two matches last week. Middle Blockers Brown and Keira Beverly have helped the Lions become the Southland's top blocking team with 2.22 blocks per set, the highest average of any team in the league. Beverly's .294 attack percentage is the 10th-best in the conference.

UIW is on a three-match winning streak, including wins over SFA and Lamar last week. The Cardinals have been helped by libero Ashton Rogers and setter Calissa Allison, who won the SLC's Defensive Player of the Week and Setter of the Week awards, respectively. The sophomore Rogers has averaged 4.66 digs per set, the second-best mark in the SLC. The junior Allison's 6.23 assists-per-set mark is the sixth-highest average in the SLC. Against the Ladyjacks, Allison posted a triple-double with 14 kills, 31 assists, and 16 digs.

HCU is seeking its first conference win this week. The Huskies have come close to victory, falling in a five-set battle at Lamar, then playing a tight four-set contest at SFA. HCU's Enisilina Savelio has been statistically one of the top setters in the conference with 667 assists and 9.26 assists per set, the second and third-best marks in the SLC, respectively. Savelio tallied a match-high 50 assists in the loss to Lamar. As a team, the Huskies average the fifth-most digs per set in the Southland at 14.82. Joya Euhus led the team on the offensive side last week, pacing all Huskies with 43 kills.

Following this week, the Lions will remain home for a two-match slate at the University Center. Southeastern will host UTRGV (10-7, 6-0 SLC) on Thursday, Oct. 22, then face off with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (6-11, 4-2 SLC) on Saturday, Oct. 24. Both home matches will be televised on ESPN+.
