HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team will continue Southland Conference play this week when it hosts New Orleans in the University Center before traveling to Lake Charles, La. with a visit to McNeese.
The matchup between the Lady Lions (2-10, 1-4 in SLC) and UNO (0-13, 0-5), in addition to Saturday's contest against McNeese (10-4, 4-1) will be televised on ESPN+. The games can also be heard on KSLU 90.9 The Lion, online at either

Thursday's contest against UNO will be the Residential Life Rivalry Gold Out Game. Fans can wear gold and bring the energy to support the Lady Lions as they take on the Privateers in the University Center.
Emma Lucio will be Thursday's Spotlight Player of the Game against UNO. The first 150 fans to attend the game will receive a trading card featuring the Edinburg, Texas native, courtesy of PRIDE.
The Lady Lions played their first match of the calendar year in the University Center Saturday, falling to SFA in an 87-72 decision. SLU showed flashes in the game, leading by 11 points at halftime before the Ladyjacks turned the tide in the second half.
Standing at the third-best scoring average (14.5) in the SLC,
Aliyah Collins elevated her conference ranking with 21 points against SFA.
Lihi Azouri's 16 points brought her scoring average to 11.5 points per game through 12 contests.
Eryn McKinzie is third on the team with a 9.2 scoring average.
McKinzie has taken the team-leading spot in rebounding, averaging 4.7 rebounds per game.
Bethany Graves and
Taylor Ross remain close with 4.4 and four boards per matchup, respectively.
The Privateers are led by Shanihya Brown's 13.1 points per game as the team's lone double-digit scorer. Brialle Washington is the closest to double-figure scoring with 9.3 points per game. Similar to the Lady Lions, the Privateers have shared rebounding duties with Lauren Banks' 5.1 rebounds per game leading the team. Brown has also been a force on the defensive side of the floor, totaling 38 steals in 13 games.
Many former Lady Lions are now part of the McNeese Cowgirls, led by former SLU Head Coach Ayla Guzzardo. Freshman Dakota Howard is the team's leading scorer, scoring 12.4 points per game. Howard is coming off one of her best weeks of the season, having won Southland Conference Player of the Week Monday, totaling 51 points through the team's last three games. Former Lady Lion
Arianna Patton is second on the team offensively, averaging 10.1 points per game.
After becoming a Southland Conference regular season champion with SLU,
Lexi Alexander is McNeese's best rebounder, reeling in 5.6 rebounds per contest, closely followed by Howard's 5.4 average. As a team, the Cowgirls have excelled at taking away the basketball, averaging 14.8 steals through 14 games.
UNO is seeking its first win of the season against SLU, having most recently lost to East Texas A&M in a 72-63 decision Saturday. McNeese is in the middle of a three-game winning streak, most recently defeating Lamar, 65-57, Saturday.
SLU leads the all-time series with UNO, ahead 19-15. Southeastern won the most recent matchup in the University Center, 59-50, during the 2024-25 season. McNeese has a three-game lead in the all-time series with SLU. The Cowgirls are ahead 43-40 since the beginning of the series. However, the Lady Lions have won the last nine going back to 2021.
