Southeastern Competes Against Lamar and SFA This Week

The Lady Lions will host Lamar Thursday before traveling to SFA Saturday

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team is set to host Lamar in the University Center Thursday, at 6 p.m., before traveling to Nacogdoches, Texas for a road matchup with Stephen F. Austin, at 2 p.m. Saturday.
 
SLU's (2-16, 1-10 in SLC) Southland Conference games against Lamar (12-6, 9-2) and SFA (14-6, 8-3) will be televised on ESPN+. The games can also be heard on KSLU 90.9 The Lion, online at either www.LionSports.net/listenlive or www.LionUpRadio.org, via the following apps – Lions Gameday Experience, Live365, iHeart, Audacy, TuneIn and MyTuner Radio - or on Alexa speakers (skill must be enabled first). The game against Lamar is also Faculty/Staff Night. SLU is celebrating its faculty and staff who make the Southeastern community strong. Fans can come and enjoy a night of Lady Lions basketball while SLU recognizes its faculty and staff for all that they do. Aliyah Collins is the Spotlight Player of the Game for Thursday. The first 150 fans to attend the game will receive a trading card featuring the College Station, Texas native, courtesy of PRIDE.
 
The Lady Lions will conclude their three-game home stand Thursday with a matchup against the No. 2-ranked team in the Southland Conference in Lamar. SLU dropped the team's last matchup Saturday, against Nicholls in a 69-66 decision. At 9-2 in conference play, the Cardinals will matchup with SLU for the first time this season. SFA previously visited the University Center earlier in the season, claiming the road win, 87-72.
 
Aliyah Collins (13.4) and Lihi Azouri (11.3) remain the offensive leaders for the Lady Lions, after they scored 16 and 14 points against the Colonels, respectively. Saturday's contest was Collins' 13th game of double-digit scoring. The redshirt junior's 13.6 points per game ranks fifth in the Southland Conference among all players. Azouri has gathered seven games of double-digit scoring marks.
 
Taylor Ross led the Lady Lions with six rebounds Saturday. Natalie Huff, Mia Ramos, and Bethany Graves each notched five boards in the game against Nicholls. Collins posted three steals against the Colonels, tying Huff for the team-leading season total at 28.
 
Lamar is on a six-game winning streak, boasting the second-best defense in the SLC, allowing an average of 59.3 points per game. The Cardinals also have the highest team three-point percentage in the conference at 35.7%. Kamryn Wilson (12.1), Shaila Forman (10.1), and Jacei Denley (10.0) have been the most consistent scorers for Lamar. Wilson scored 29 points in the team's 73-63 win over the Ladyjacks Saturday. Solenne Olenga is the team's leader in rebounding with 5.1 boards per game.
 
The Ladyjacks stand at third in the conference with an 8-2 mark. SFA is the strongest offensive team in the SLC, averaging 76.3 points per game. The Ladyjacks lead the Southland in team field goal percentage, too, with a 43.1% average. Harmanie Dominguez's 13.6 points per game are fourth in the conference. Averaging 13.3 points per game, Key Roseby ranks sixth in the SLC among all players in scoring.
 
Roseby (7.5), Cha Gardner (7.2), and Aziyah Farrier (6.5) have contributed to the team's SLC ranking of second in rebounding with an average of 40.4 boards through 20 games. As a team, SFA is first in both blocks and assists per game with 5.1 and 17.45, respectively.
 
The Cardinals lead the all-time series against Southeastern, 27-23. The Lady Lions won the last matchup, 60-48, during the 2024-25 season. SFA holds a 20-2 record in the all-time series versus Southeastern, winning the last game in the University Center, 87-72, on Jan. 3.
