HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team will begin its three-game homestand with two matchups in the University Center this week, facing off against McNeese and Nicholls, Thursday, at 6 p.m. and Saturday, at 1 p.m.
SLU's (2-14, 1-8 in SLC) home matchups against McNeese (14-4, 8-1) and Nicholls (8-8, 4-5) will be televised on ESPN+. The games can also be heard on KSLU 90.9 The Lion, online at either

Thursday's 6 p.m. home contest in the University Center against McNeese is sponsored by the North Oaks Health System.
Taylor Ross will be Thursday's Spotlight Player of the Game while
Aisha Marten-Coney will be Saturday's Spotlight Player of the Game. The first 150 fans will receive a trading card featuring the student-athlete for the respective game, courtesy of PRIDE.
SLU's game against McNeese will also be Greek Night. Fans can represent their letters, wear their colors, and bring the noise. The loudest and most spirited Greek organization will win bragging rights and prizes. Saturday's game against Nicholls will be Bingo Night.
Southeastern is returning to the University Center after a three-game road trip that ended with a 68-65 loss to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Lady Lions are set to face the top-ranked team in the Southland Conference with McNeese Thursday. Nicholls, on the other hand, is on a two-game loss streak with a home contest against New Orleans before it visits SLU Saturday.
In Saturday's game against the Islanders,
Eryn McKinzie put up a career-high 22 points to lead all players. In her 12
th game of double-digit scoring,
Aliyah Collins notched 18 points in Saturday's loss and still stands as the team's leading scorer at 13.6 points per game.
Lihi Azouri remains second on the team in scoring with 11.5 points per contest. McKinzie's 9.9 scoring average is third on the team.
McKinzie (5.0) and
Bethany Graves (4.8) have remained the team's rebounding leaders through 16 games. Graves' nine rebounds led the team in Saturday's game, while the Fort Worth, Texas native brought in seven boards in the game.
The McNeese Cowgirls hold the best win streak in the Southland at seven games, including a 77-55 win over SLU two weeks ago. With nine former Lady Lions on McNeese, former Southeastern Head Coach Ayla Guzzardo's squad ranks first in the SLC in both defense and steals, only allowing 52.6 points per game while also taking away the ball an average of 14.89 times per game.
Dakota Howard is the team's scoring leader with 12 points per game, while
Arianna Patton is the only other Cowgirl with double-figure scoring at 10.3 points per contest. Patton also ranks fourth in the SLC with a 40% three-point percentage.
Lexi Alexander leads McNeese in rebounding with 5.7 boards per game while Howard (5.3) and
Tyreona Sibley (5.2) are next on the team in rebounding.
Offensively, Nicholls ranks third in the SLC with 66.6 points per game. The Colonels have three double-digit scorers with Tanita Swift (12.2), Jesslynn Jalomo (10.7), and Jasmine Matthews (10.5) consistently producing. Emani Burks's 6.6 boards per game lead the team on the defensive end of the floor, helping the team rank fourth in the SLC in defense.
McNeese claimed the last game between the two teams in the 2025-26 season, winning 77-55 to take a 44-40 lead in the all-time series. Southeastern leads the all-time series with Nicholls, 37-22, including the last matchup with a 63-50 win in the University Center during the 2024-25 season.
