SLU Continues Road Trip at UTRGV and A&M-Corpus Christi

The Lady Lions are set to visit two Southland Conference opponents this week

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team will play two games in Texas this week, when the Lady Lions travel to UTRGV Thursday, at 6:30 p.m., and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday, at 1 p.m.
 
SLU's (2-12, 1-6 in SLC) games against UTRGV (8-8, 5-2) and A&M-Corpus Christi (2-12, 1-6) will be televised on ESPN+. The games can also be heard on KSLU 90.9 The Lion, online at either www.LionSports.net/listenlive or www.LionUpRadio.org, via the following apps – Lions Gameday Experience, Live365, iHeart, Audacy, TuneIn and MyTuner Radio - or on Alexa speakers (skill must be enabled first). All you have to say is, "Alexa, play K.S.L.U."
 
Southeastern is coming off a loss to the McNeese Cowgirls in a 77-55 contest Saturday. The Cowgirls are the top team in the Southland Conference, achieving a league-best 6-1 conference record.
 
Aliyah Collins has been the most productive Lady Lion scorer through the team's 14 games, scoring 13.9 points per game. Lihi Azouri is second on the team with 12.5 points per game after a 16-point performance Saturday. Mia Ramos had her best game as a Lady Lion Saturday, scoring a season-high 16 points.
 
Eryn McKinzie (5.0) and Bethany Graves (4.7) are Southeastern's most productive rebounders this season. On Saturday, Natalie Huff was the team's leading rebounder, bringing in seven boards against the Cowgirls. Ramos also notched a team-high three steals at McNeese.
 
UTRGV is currently on a three-game winning streak, starting with a 58-47 win against the Islanders, before picking up road wins against Northwestern State and East Texas A&M last week. Jalayah Ingram won the Southland Conference Player of the Week award after posting three straight games of at least 21 points. Coming off a season-best 29-point performance in UTRGV's 60-55 win over East Texas A&M, Ingram is the sole Vaquero with a double-digit scoring average at 17.6 points per game, ranking second in the league.
 
The Vaqueros lead the SLC in rebounding with a team average of 41.8 rebounds per contest. Charlotte O'Keefe is second on the team in scoring (9.9) and averages double-digit rebounds with a team-leading 12.3 boards per game. O'Keefe also averages 1.6 blocks per game, totaling 16 blocks in 10 games played.
 
The Islanders are on a three-game losing streak with losses to UTRGV, East Texas A&M, and Northwestern State. Samora Watson is the team's leading scorer with 13.5 points per matchup. Chelsea Wooten has totaled a team-high 55 assists, averaging 3.9 dimes per game. K'Nari Holliday's 5.7 rebounding average paces the team through 14 games.
 
Southeastern has won three of the four games played in the all-time series with UTRGV. SLU won the most recent matchup, defeating the Vaqueros, 52-48, in Edinburg, Texas, last season. The Islanders lead the all-time series with the Lady Lions, only leading by one win, 15-14. A&M-Corpus Christi won the last game to break the tie, 54-52, in Corpus Christi, Texas, during the 2024-25 season.
