HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's soccer team will close out its three match road stretch against Little Rock and Grambling.
The Lady Lions (0-4) will open week four of the season against the Little Rock Trojans (2-2) Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Coleman Soccer Complex. Thursday's match will be televised on ESPN+.
Southeastern will return to the pitch Saturday evening at 5 p.m. against Grambling (2-2-1) to finish its three-match road stretch. Sunday's game against the Tigers will be streamed on Youtube at Grambling Athletics as the Lady Lions visit Grambling for the second time in program history. SLU is seeking to capture its first win of the season after dropping 3-1 to South Alabama this past weekend in Mobile, Ala. Southeastern matched the Jaguars intensity in the first half holding the hosts scoreless on their home field. South Alabama returned in the second half on a mission with three goals to secure the victory as the Lady Lions recorded an own goal to gain their second goal of the season. SLU goalkeeper Kendall Curran finished with 12 saves in the net to post her second match of the season with double-digit saves.
Little Rock finished 1-1 last week after falling 2-1 to ULM before gaining a 3-2 victory over Central Arkansas. The Trojans claimed their first home win of the season against the Sugar Bears as Maria Schuller connected in the net alongside Amaya Arias with two goals. Arias leads Little Rock with four goals as Schuller and Maggie Turner have each contributed three goals so far this season. The Trojans have recorded 12 goals, 83 shots, 27 shots on goal and 17 corner kicks. Peyton Urban has handled the majority of the work in the net for Little Rock with eight saves and a 2.50 goals against average.
Grambling closed out last week 0-1 after suffering a 2-1 loss to fellow conference member East Texas A&M on the road. The Tigers' leading scorer Alana Aiken, with five goals this season, posted the lone goal to cut into the deficit against the Lions. Aiken is followed up by Liana Bryant and Olivia Kowall who have each connected in the net for Grambling. The Tigers have recorded eight goals, 64 shots and 27 shots on goal as goalkeeper Kaia Bace has claimed 12 saves with a 0.78 goals against average.
Concluding Sunday's match, Southeastern will return to Strawberry Stadium to welcome Southern to Hammond, America Friday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. Friday's match against the Jaguars will be televised on ESPN+ as fans and students are encouraged to pack the stadium for Greek/Student Organization Night.
