Southeastern Embarks on Three Match Road Stretch

SLU opens its three match road stretch in Mobile, Ala. against South Alabama Sunday at 6 p.m.

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's soccer team will return to the field to begin a three match road stretch against South Alabama Sunday at 6 p.m. in Mobile, Ala.

Southeastern (0-3) will continue its non-conference schedule facing the South Alabama Jaguars (3-1). The two teams will be meeting for the eighth time in program history. The Lady Lions last made the trip to Mobile, Ala. in 2022 with the hosts securing a 1-0 victory. The match will be televised on ESPN+ and live stats, provided by the host, can be accessed on the women's soccer schedule page at  www.LionSports.net.

SLU is looking to claim its first win of the 2025 season after falling 2-1 to Jackson State in its home opener last week. The Lady Lions were the first on the board as they claimed their first goal of the season to claim the lead. Newcomer Charlotte Lewis connected in the net for her first collegiate goal. Jackson State battled to earn two goals late in the second half to close out with the victory. 

Southeastern goalkeeper Kendall Curran handled all the responsibility in the net and finished with two saves. SLU has recorded 27 shots, 15 saves and 14 corner kicks in the opening weeks of the season.

South Alabama opened the week 2-0 at home after defeating Louisiana Tech 2-0 and Middle Tennessee 4-0. The Jaguars extended their three-match winning streak after also claiming a 2-0 victory over Tennessee Tech in week one. South Alabama has recorded eight goals so far this season and is led by Andrea Iljkic with two goals and five points. The Jaguars have posted 67 shots and 31 corner kicks as goalkeepers Sierra Giorgio and Jaidin Kinch have split time in the net. Giorgio and Kinch combined have recorded 11 saves and hold a 0.50 goals against average.

Concluding Sunday's match, the Lady Lions continue on the road to face Little Rock Thursday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. Southeastern will complete its three-match road stretch against Grambling Sunday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. SLU's match against the Trojans will be streamed on ESPN+.
