HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's soccer team will return to the field and open week two of the 2025 season on the road against Troy before Jackson State visits Strawberry Stadium.
SLU kicks off the weekend Friday with a 6 p.m. match in Troy, Ala. against the Trojans at the Troy Soccer Complex. The match between Southeastern (0-1) and Troy (1-1) will be televised on ESPN+.
The Lady Lions will face Jackson State (0-2) in their home opener to close out the week Sunday evening at 6 p.m. Sunday's match against the Tigers will be streamed on ESPN+. Live stats for both matches can be accessed on the women's soccer schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
Southeastern seeks to snap back after suffering a 4-0 loss to ULM on the road in its season opener. The Lady Lions fell behind early and could not cut into the deficit against the Warhawks. ULM gained an 8-1 shot advantage over SLU to close out the contest. Freshman midfielder Sally Bero recorded the lone shot attempt for the green and gold. Redshirt-sophomore Isabella Walls and true freshman Daniella Muro played all 90 minutes as Southeastern goalkeeper Kendall Curran played the entire match in the net.
Troy opened week one of the season 1-1 on the road. The Trojans fell 2-0 to Murray State before securing a 3-1 victory over Alcorn State. Elsa Stedman connected with the first goal of the season for Troy as Jiselle Daniels led the team with two goals against the BraveHawks. Taylor Richards has handled the majority of the weight in net for the Trojans with a 1.50 goals against average and 0.70 save percentage.
Jackson State looks to claim its first win of the season on the road after finishing 0-2 last weekend. The Tigers fell 4-0 to Kentucky and 3-0 against Middle Tennessee on the road in week one. Sophomore Malayah Nuestro and freshman Jaelyn Moore each recorded a shot on goal this season for Jackson State.
Sunday's match, the Lady Lions welcome fans to Strawberry Stadium to kick off the 2025 home opener against the Tigers. SLU will move forward to face South Alabama on the road Sunday, Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. in Mobile, Ala. The match against the Jaguars will be streamed on ESPN+.
