LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the seventh consecutive season, the reigning, back-to-back Southland Conference Regular Season Champion Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team has been honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for its work in the classroom with the AVCA Team Academic Award, the AVCA announced on Monday.
 
To be honored with the AVCA Team Academic Award Sponsored by INTENT, a program must have maintained at least a 3.3 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. The Lady Lions hit that mark, finishing the 2024-25 academic year with a team 3.4 GPA to earn the mark for the seventh year in a row.
 
Southeastern earned numerous individual academic awards for the 2024 season. Cicily Hidalgo, the Southland Conference's Player of the Year for 2024, was also named its Student-Athlete of the Year with Hannah Brewer being named SLC Second Team All-Academic.
 
Hidalgo and Brewer also highlighted the SLC Commissioner's Fall Honor Roll with Brewer being one of four Lady Lions - Anne Brauckmiller, Lily Morgan, and Anna Panchartek being the others – to make the list with a 4.0 GPA. Other members of the volleyball team to be named to the SLC Commissioner's Fall Honor Roll in 2024 were Keira Beverly, Ainsley Driska, Lexi Gonzalez, Nandi Huggins, Alexis Logarbo, Ashley Richardson, Taylor Stockwell, Peyton Stokely, Audrey Vielguth, and Lindsey Wickersham.
 
1,450 college and high school programs were honored with the award.
 
Southeastern opens its 2025 schedule on Aug. 29 as the Lady Lions host Louisiana-Monroe and Louisiana Tech on the first day of the Southeastern Showdown at the University Center. Opening serve against the Warhawks is set for 12:30 p.m. while the match against the Bulldogs is set for 7 p.m. with both matches set to be televised on ESPN+.
