HAMMOND, La. – Guard Fatime Seck will continue her academic and athletic endeavors as a member of Southeastern Louisiana University's women's basketball program, SLU head coach Jeff Dow announced Thursday morning.
A 6-0 guard from El Paso, Texas, Seck, comes to Southeastern with three years of eligibility left. Seck is the ninth member of the 2025-26 women's basketball signing class as Coach Dow seeks to formulate a solid roster with the green and gold.
The newcomer spent her rookie season at the University of Central Arkansas (2023-24) after a successful high school career at Franklin High School. Seck led the 6A Region 1 District 1 with 1.5 blocks per game and ranked amongst the top 100 in Texas in blocks. Her senior year, Seck averaged 7.9 points per game, 4.5 rebounds and 1.8 steals.
In her rookie season with the Sugar Bears, Seck appeared in five games and finished 40.0 percent from the field before transferring to one of the top junior college programs in the country, New Mexico Junior College. This past season with the Thunderbirds, Seck played in 33 games, averaging 4.8 points per game with a season high 17 points versus Dodge City Community College. Seck closed the 2024-25 season with 46 rebounds, 21 assists, 12 steals and nine blocks.
"Fatime is going to give us a long, versatile wing that can defend guards and forwards alike," stated Coach Dow. "Fatime has the athleticism and length that will allow us to switch 1-4. Offensively, she has shown the ability to knock down 3's and also finish around the rim."
This season Seck helped New Mexico Junior College finish with an overall record of 30-4 and 12-2 in conference play while defending its home court with a record of 20-1. Seck ended the season ranking third on the team in three-point percentage (29.1).
Seck joins a 2025-26 roster that will feature two other junior college transfers this season.
