Lady Lions Add Three Student-Athletes

Southeastern inks Aisha Marten-Coney, Natalie Huff, and Emma Lucio for the 2025-26 season

HAMMOND, La. – Aisha Marten-Coney, Natalie Huff, and Emma Lucio agreed to continue their academic and athletic endeavors as members of the Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball program for the 2025-26 season, Southeastern head coach Jeff Dow declared Monday afternoon.

Marten-Coney, Huff, and Lucio become the eighth signees for Southeastern in its 2025-26 signing class, after previously inking Aliyah Collins (5-5, G, College Station, Texas, College Station High School), Eryn McKinzie (5-10, G, Fort Worth, Texas, UIW, Brewer High School), and Taylor Wilkins (5-10, G, New Orleans, La., McNeese, UNC Asheville, Mt. Carmel), Bethany Graves (5-11, F, Pascagoula, Miss., Southwest Mississippi CC, Pascagoula HS), Mia Ramos (5-7, G, San Antonio, Texas, Brandeis HS) last month.

Marten-Coney, a 6-0 forward from Sydney, Australia, comes to SLU with three years of eligibility left. Marten-Coney spent the first two seasons of her collegiate career at Ranger College after a solid high school career at St. Vincent's College. In her first season with the Lady Rangers, Marten-Coney played in all 28 games with 27 starts, averaging 5.4 points per game. She closed out the 2023-24 season, finishing 41.8 percent from the field while shooting 33.3 percent from the three-point line.

"Aisha is a versatile forward that can score in a variety of ways," stated Coach Dow. "She has the ability to knock down three's,  as well as, drive and finish at the rim. We wanted to add a veteran player to our frontcourt that had the versatility to play the 4 or 5 position."

This past season, Marten-Coney stepped up to average 11.1 points per game to finish her sophomore campaign. Marten-Coney steadily improved to close out the 2024-25 season, finishing 41.9 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from behind the arch while posting a career high 23 points against Temple College.

Huff, a 5-7 guard from San Antonio, Texas, spent her rookie season at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Huff redshirted with the Islanders this 2024-25 season after a successful high school career at Clark High School as a three-time district champion. Huff was an integral part of her team's success and helped the squad earn a 6A State Championship in 2023 while being named to the All-Tournament Team. Huff finished her high school career as a four-time All-District performer, reached 1,000 career points, and earned TABC All-Region 6A honors. Huff comes to Hammond, America with four years of eligibility left.

"I've had the opportunity to watch Natalie play for several years going back to her time in high school in San Antonio," commented Dow. "As a point guard she has a tremendous feel for the game and simply put, she wins. She was a critical piece of their state championship as a junior."

Lucio, a 5-9 guard from Edinburg, Texas, comes to Southeastern with two years of eligibility left. Lucio, a transfer from UTSA, spent two seasons with the Roadrunners after playing varsity basketball and volleyball for four years at Robert Vela High School. Lucio earned Co-Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-District, All-Valley Defensive Team, All-State Team, and All-City MVP as a junior.

In her first season with UTSA, Lucio appeared in 13 contests averaging 7.5 minutes per game and seven assists. This past season, Lucio appeared in 19 games with the Roadrunners, securing 27 points and 18 rebounds.

"She is going to give us a lot of versatility," said Dow. "She is a wing that, in a pinch, could play the point or even the 4 position because of her toughness and physicality."

The 2025-26 Southeastern women's basketball season will tip off in early November.
