HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team faces a rematch with Tulane in non-conference action Tuesday on ESPN+. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Fans can listen to game broadcasts in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 The Lion. In addition, an audio stream is available online at www.LionSports.net/ListenLive and via the Lions Gameday Experience and MyTuner Radio apps. Southeastern (25-7) dropped a 5-3 decision to the Green Wave (21-12) in frigid afternoon temps back on February 19 in Hammond. It was the first mid-week contest of the season for SLU.
The Lions are coming off a doubleheader sweep of UIW in Southland Conference action Saturday to claim the series. SLU, which is hitting .300 as a team, ranks 12th nationally with 56 home runs.
Southeastern ranks second in the nation in shutouts (6), fifth in ERA (3.25) and eighth in double plays turned (31).
The Lions are led at the plate by
Giovanni Licciardi (.375, 17 RBI),
Ryan Brome (.361, 11 HR, 29 RBI),
Dane Watts (.352, 3 HR, 21 RBI) and
Ben Robichaux (.317, 6 HR 16 RBI). Brome is tied for the conference lead in home runs.
Right-hander
Chase Ambrose (1-0, 12.27) draws the starting nod for the Lions on the mound. The sophomore from Huntsville, Alabama will be opposed by Tulane freshman right-hander John-Paul Sauer (1-0, 6.75).
Connor Rasmussen (.344, 3 HR, 25 RBI) and Matthias Hass (.321, 3 HR, 23 RBI) are the Green Wave's leading hitters this season.
Following a five-game losing streak, Tulane has won its last four games. Included in the winning streak is a non-conference win over Northwestern State and a three-game sweep of Rice.
UP NEXT
The Lions continue their four-game road swing with a trip down to the Coastal Bend of Texas. SLU squares off with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a three-game conference series, Friday through Sunday, at Chapman Field in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Game times are slated for 6 p.m. Friday, 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. All three contests are slated for coverage on ESPN+.
