HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team will continue postseason play in the 2025 Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament against No. 1 seed Colorado Thursday in the CU Events Center, as announced by the WBIT Selection Show.

Southeastern (25-6, 19-1 SLC) will face Colorado (20-12, 19-1 SLC) in the first round of the WBIT for the first time in program history, as tipoff will be announced at a later date. SLU automatically qualified in the postseason tournament after claiming the outright Southland Conference regular season title for the first time in Lady Lion basketball history. Southeastern is among the prestige company of James Madison, UNLV, Hawaii, UTSA, Gonzaga, North Carolina A&T, UAlbany as the final eight teams recognized as automatic qualifiers.

Thursday's game against the Buffs will be televised on ESPN+ and heard on 90.9 The Lion. Live stats, provided by the hosts, can be accessed on the women's basketball schedule page at www.LionSports.net.

The Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament was inaugurated in 2024 and ran by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The first four teams out of the NCAA DI women's basketball tournament — as determined by the DI women's basketball selection committee — receive an automatic bid into the WBIT and the first four seeds. Regular season champions of DI conferences not otherwise selected for the NCAA DI women's basketball tournament will also automatically qualify (if eligible and not reclassifying institutions). The remaining field will be made up of at-large teams chosen by the WBIT selection committee. First, second and quarterfinal games will be held at campus sites. Action then moves to Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis for the semifinals and the championship.
