NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Brennan Stuprich and Brady St, Pierre combined to shut down the Stephen F. Austin bats Friday and the Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team picked up a 4-3 win over the Lumberjacks in Southland Conference action at Jaycees Field.
 
Southeastern (14-3, 4-0 SLC) fell behind, 3-0, midway through the game before rallying for four runs in the fifth inning.
 
Parker Coley led off the inning with a double inside the third-base bag. He advanced to third on a flyout to center field and then scored on an RBI single by Giovanni Licciardi. The Licciardi single was the first of four consecutive SLU hits.
 
Dane Watts followed with a single up the middle. Ryan Brome drove in Licciardi with a double to left-center and Watts scored on an RBI single by TJ Salvaggio.
 
Stuprich and St. Pierre made the one-run lead hold up. Stuprich (5-0) allowed three runs – all earned – on five hits and two walks. He struck out seven on the way to earning the win. St. Pierre tossed a pair of scoreless innings to close it out, striking out three to earn his third save of the season.
 
Watts (3-for-5), Licciardi (2-for-4) and Bailyn Sorensen (2-for-4) turned in multi-hit performances at the plate for the Lions.
