LAFAYETTE, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team dropped a non-conference contest, 9-7, Wednesday to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.

Out on the road for the first time in 2025, Southeastern (7-2) fell behind, 4-0, as the Ragin' Cajuns (5-4) jumped out in front early.

SLU picked up a run in the third inning.
Ben Robichaux, who reached on a fielder's choice, scored from first base on
Ryan Brome's RBI double to right field. The Ragin' Cajuns answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning, taking a 5-1 lead.

The Lions shaved two runs off the deficit in the fifth. With two outs,

TJ Salvaggio greeted new reliever Alex Rosario with an RBI single through the right side. Two pitchers later, Brome scored on a wild pitch by reliever Drew Kirby.

Keeping up the offensive pressure, the Ragin' Cajuns answered with a run in the bottom of the inning and three more in the sixth for a 9-3 lead.

Back-to-back RBI singles by Salvaggio and
Jude Hall in the seventh brought SLU within four and Brome's two-run homer in the eighth provided the Lions with their final runs of the game.

Ragin' Cajun starting pitcher Tate Hess (1-1) earned the win, allowing one run in 4.0 innings pitched. He surrendered two hits and one walk, striking out seven batters.
