HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team hosts Alcorn State in a three-game series Friday through Sunday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. The non-conference contests are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
Southeastern will celebrate Mardi Gras season throughout the series. Friday's opener is a field trip game for local elementary schools. Saturday's game will feature Baseball Bingo while Sunday is Military Appreciation Day. Free general admission tickets are available Sunday for active military members who present a valid service ID at the gate.

SLU (4-1) dropped its last game, 5-3, Wednesday to Tulane after opening the season with a four-game sweep of Lindenwood. The Lions are hitting .346 as a team, leading the nation with 14 home runs.

Brennan Stuprich (1-0, 0.00), the reigning Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week, takes the ball for the Lions in the series opener. His 13 strikeouts against Lindenwood were the most by any pitcher in DI on opening weekend.
Alcorn (0-2) dropped a pair of non-conference games earlier this week to Mississippi Valley State and Manhattan.
Jaylon Burrell (.444, 1 RBI), Reyfield Adams III (.444, 1 RBI), Samuel Leonard (.429) and Nathan Gamez (.400, 2 RBI) are the Braves top hitters entering the weekend.

The Lions face their first road trip of the season Wednesday, traveling to UL Lafayette for a 6 p.m. non-conference contest at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
