HAMMOND, La. – One of the top players in Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball history,
Cicily Hidalgo will participate in the USA Volleyball National Team Open Tryout in Colorado Springs, Colorado this week.
Hidalgo, a native of Opelousas, Louisiana, was a key member in a dominant stretch for the Lady Lions that saw the team win two Southland Conference regular season and tournament championships, while making the program's first two NCAA Tournament appearances.
Named the first AVCA All-American in program history, Hidalgo was named SLC Player of the Year, SLC Student-Athlete of the Year, AVCA All-Region, first team All-Southland and first team All-Louisiana.
She averaged 4.32 points per set on the season, scoring 3.64 kills per set on a .261 attack percentage as well as 37 service aces on the year. Her score line included 66 total blocks on the season, 12 solo, while also contributing 3.14 digs per set.
Hidalgo finished her SLU career with 1,446 career kills, the second-most in program history, becoming just the second Lady Lion ever to cross 1,400 career kills. She also scored 1,646.0 career points while in the green and gold, also the second-most ever by a Lady Lion.
