HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University right-hander Brennan Stuprich was named the Jersey Mike's Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
 
Stuprich (1-0), who leads the nation in strikeouts following Friday's performance, struck out a career-best 13 batters in the Lions' season opener against Lindenwood.
 
The redshirt senior from Kenner, Louisiana fanned the side in the first inning. He fanned a pair of batters in both the second and fourth. Stuprich also recorded all three outs in the third and fifth by striking out the Lindenwood (0-1) hitters.
 
He also carried a no-hitter into the fifth on his way to earning the victory.
 
Monday marks the fourth time in Stuprich's career that he has won the conference's weekly honor.

Southeastern continues its eight-game homestand to open the 2025 season, hosting Tulane at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
