Lee McBride's first recruiting class at SLU as head coach consists of 3 incoming freshmen, 1 JuCo transfer
HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball coach
Lee McBride has announced his first recruiting class of four new Lady Lions for the 2025 season, bringing in three freshmen and one transfer to the reigning Southland Conference Regular Season Champions.
The four new Lady Lions are Mina Petrovic - a junior college transfer from Hill College in Hillsboro Texas, Abby Bailey – an incoming freshman from Northlake Christian School in Covington, Gracie Brown – an incoming freshman from Bryant High School in Bryant, Ark., and Ayla Klingenberg – an incoming freshman from St. George, Kan. And Rock Creek High School.
Petrovic, a native of Belgrade, Serbia, comes to Southeastern after two seasons at Hill College where she served as an outside hitter on both sides of the court. As a sophomore for the Rebels, she averaged 3.47 kills per set on a .247 attack percentage while totaling nearly 0.5 blocks per set. She also had 42 service aces in 29 matches in 2024, bringing her scoring average up to 4.2 points per set.
Bailey makes the short drive from Covington in St. Tammany Parish over to Hammond, America to play her collegiate career. The outside hitter helped guide the Wolverines to back-to-back LSHAA Division IV State Championships where she was named the Tournament MVP both times. In the 2024 State Final, she tallied 14 kills and five blocks in a straight-sets win over The Dunham School to clinch the title.
Brown, a middle blocker and outside hitter from Arkansas, comes to Southeastern after four years with the Hornets where she averaged 2.4 kills per set on a .299 attack percentage. Over her four-year career, she averaged a block per set, getting 320 career blocks. She also had 142 career service aces.
Klingenberg, a middle blocker and outside hitter from Kansas, joins the Lady Lions after helping guide the Mustangs to a state runner-up finish in the KSHSAA Class 4A Tournament in 2024. She was named All-State by the KSHSAA to end her senior season.
