HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team will end the calendar year with a trip to San Antonio, Texas, to take on Incarnate Word, Wednesday, Dec. 31.
The matchup between the Lady Lions (2-8, 1-2 in SLC) and Cardinals (4-6, 2-1) will be televised on ESPN+. The game can also be heard on KSLU 90.9 The Lion, online at either

After closing non-conference play Sunday, the Lady Lions will fully transition into Southland Conference competition Wednesday, when Southeastern takes on UIW. Wednesday's contest is also the first time that first-year SLU Head Coach Jeff Dow will be facing his former team.
Aliyah Collins and
Lihi Azouri remain the top two producers for the Lady Lions on the offensive end of the floor. Collins and Azouri, who have reached season-highs of 29 points in conference contests early in the season, average 13.2 and 10.4 points per game, respectively. Southeastern guard
Natalie Huff is not far behind with 9.3 points per game.
Eryn McKinzie led SLU in its latest contest against Texas with 13 points, while averaging 9.2 points per contest.
While Southeastern has dealt with injuries, the Lady Lions have shared rebounding duties in recent games. McKinzie,
Taylor Ross, and
Bethany Graves are each averaging four boards per game.
Jorja Elliott has been the top scorer for the Cardinals through the team's first team games. The senior from Hickory Creek, Texas is averaging 12 points per game. Raimi McCrary (9.7) and Morgan Borgstadt (9.3) are nearing a double-figure average offensively. Elliott is also the team's three-point leader, shooting 40.7% from beyond the arc.
McCrary is averaging 7.8 rebounds per contest, leading Incarnate Word on the defensive end of the floor. Also on the defensive side, Elliott has totaled a team-leading 16 steals through the team's 10 games.
Most recently, UIW went on a three-game winning streak, including back-to-back Southland Conference wins over Nicholls and the University of New Orleans. However, the Cardinals received their first conference loss Monday in a 74-53 home loss to McNeese State.
SLU and Incarnate Word are at an even 9-9 in the series between the Southland Conference opponents. The latest matchup between the two teams was a 57-37 victory for the Lady Lions in the semifinals of the Southland Conference Championship Tournament on Mar. 12, 2025.
The Lady Lions will play their third game of the week on Saturday, Jan. 3, when the team hosts Stephen F. Austin inside the University Center, at 1 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on KSLU 90.9 The Lion, online at either

Fans can celebrate the New Year on Saturday, in SLU's game against SFA by bringing their brightest neon and glow gear. Saturday's "Light Up the New Year" game will include glowsticks, blacklights, and giveaways for fans to get in on.
