SLU Visits No. 14 Baylor Wednesday

Southeastern (2-3) is set for a match against Baylor (7-1) in Waco, Texas

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team will return to play after a week-long break, traveling to Waco, Texas, to compete against Baylor on Wednesday, at 7 p.m.

Wednesday's road game between SLU (2-3) and Baylor (7-1) will be televised on ESPN+. The game can also be heard on KSLU 90.9 The Lion, online at either www.LionSports.net/listenlive or www.LionUpRadio.org, via the following apps – Lions Gameday Experience, Live365, iHeart, Audacy, TuneIn and MyTuner Radio - or on Alexa speakers (skill must be enabled first). All you have to say is, "Alexa, play K.S.L.U."

Most recently, the Lady Lions won their first conference matchup, defeating the East Texas A&M Lions in the University Center on Nov. 22.

Lihi Azouri scored the most points by any player in the Southland Conference in a single game, earning her SLC Player of the Week honors. The freshman from Israel collected 29 points against ETAMU, making five three-pointers with an efficient 10-for-17 shooting output. Azouri and Natalie Huff are the team's leaders in points per game, averaging 15.3 and 10.8, respectively. Eryn McKinzie and Aliyah Collins are next on the list, averaging 9.0 and 8.4 points per contest.

Taylor Ross is the Lady Lions' rebounding leader, posting 4.8 rebounds per game. Bethany Graves follows Ross in that category, averaging 4.6 boards through five games. Huff leads Southeastern in steals, totaling 12 swipes in five games.

Taliah Scott is Baylor's leader on the offensive end of the floor. The redshirt sophomore is averaging 23.8 points per game, more than double the average of the Bears' second points per game leader. Scott has scored in double figures in all of Baylor's eight games this season, only scoring less than 20 points once.

Darianna Littlepage-Buggs leads the Bears in rebounding, recording 10.5 boards per game. Scott's 13 steals pace the team, while Kiersten Johnson has recorded a team-high 22 rejections through eight games.

The Bears, who are currently No. 14 in the Associated Press NCAA women's college basketball rankings, most recently defeated Grambling State in a 76-35 home game. In that game, Baylor had three student-athletes score in double figures. Offensively, Scott (17), Bella Fontleroy (11) and Littlepage-Buggs (10) filled up the box score. Littlepage-Buggs' 16 rebounds gave her a double-double in the home win.

Southeastern's all-time record against Baylor is 0-3. SLU visited Baylor in the last matchup between the teams with the Bears winning 109-38 in the 2016-17 season.

The Lady Lions will be back in the University Center on Sunday, Dec. 7, hosting Northwestern State in the team's second SLC contest of the season, at 1 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on KSLU 90.9 The Lion, online at either www.LionSports.net/listenlive or www.LionUpRadio.org, via the following apps – Lions Gameday Experience, Live365, iHeart, Audacy, TuneIn and MyTuner Radio - or on Alexa speakers (skill must be enabled first).
