HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team will take a break from Southland Conference play Saturday, when SLU plays the Memphis Tigers in the University Center, at 1 p.m.

SLU's game against Memphis Saturday will feature an Ugly Sweater Contest. Fans are encouraged to bring their ugliest holiday sweater for a chance to win prizes and be named the Ugly Sweater Champion of the day. Bethany Graves will be the Spotlight Player of the Game for the Lady Lions on Dec. 20. The first 150 fans to attend the game will receive a trading card featuring the Pascagoula, Miss., native, courtesy of PRIDE.

After a double-overtime 77-70 loss to Houston Christian, Southeastern is back home for another game in the University Center Sunday. The Lady Lions will look to snap a three-game loss streak.

After back-to-back team-high scoring performances, Aliyah Collins put together a career-high with 29 points against HCU. The redshirt junior played all 50 minutes of the conference contest, making four triples, while also bringing in a team-high 11 rebounds for a double-double. After three great performances, Collins has established herself as the top scorer through eight games, averaging 13.6 points per contest. Lihi Azouri is next on the scoring list, remaining in double figures at 10.2 points per game. Natalie Huff is third on the team with 9.5 points per game after scoring 12 against the Huskies.

Taylor Ross is SLU's rebounding leader with 4.6 boards per game, but Friday's loss to HCU included a greater effort by SLU as a team. In Houston, Texas, three Lady Lions, including Collins, put together double-digit rebounds with Eryn McKinzie notching a 15-point 10-rebound double-double and junior Aisha Marten-Coney collecting 10 boards and a game-high six steals in her first start at Southeastern.

Chaé Harris has been the most productive scorer for Memphis through 11 games, averaging 14.5 points per contest. Against Ole Miss, the senior notched a season-high 24 points in a nine-point loss. Daejah Richmond (10.5) is also averaging double figures on the offensive end of the floor.

Like the Lady Lions, the Tigers have been a team that has put a collective effort towards rebounding. Tamya Smith and Paris Gaines are the team's rebounding leaders with 5.0 and 4.8 rebounds per game, respectively. Richmond has led Memphis in steals through 11 games, notching 23 swipes this season.

Memphis is in the midst of a four-game losing streak, having lost at Murray State in an 85-57 road contest in Murray, Ky., Monday.

Memphis leads the all-time series 6-3 with the Lady Lions. SLU won the last matchup between the two teams, taking a 63-57 against the Tigers in Memphis, Tenn., during the 2024-25 season.

After Saturday's game, the Lady Lions will go on a two-game road trip, starting with a contest at No. 2 Texas on Sunday, Dec. 28, at 1 p.m., in Austin, Texas. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on KSLU 90.9 The Lion, online at either www.LionSports.net/listenlive or www.LionUpRadio.org, via the following apps – Lions Gameday Experience, Live365, iHeart, Audacy, TuneIn and MyTuner Radio - or on Alexa speakers (skill must be enabled first).
