HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University football team moved up two spots to No. 14 in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll, while climbing up to No. 19 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Monday.
SLU (7-2, 5-0 SLC) dominated in all three phases on the way to a 59-14 victory over East Texas A&M Saturday. The Lions improved to 7-0 versus FCS competition and has outscored its seven FCS foes by an average of just under 35 points per game.
Southeastern is one of three Southland Conference teams receiving votes in both polls. League co-leader SFA is No. 17 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 and No. 12 in the AFCA Coaches Top 25. Lamar is No. 18 in the coaches poll and checks in at No. 20 in the Stats Perform poll. UTRGV continues to receive votes in the AFCA Coaches Top 25.
Lamar will be the first ranked FCS opponent SLU has faced this fall. The Lions and Cardinals meet Saturday at 3 p.m. in Beaumont, Texas. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM, The Boss 97.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM).
