Proctor, Reno Claim Top Southland Honors: Nine Lions Tabbed All-SLC

Proctor (Player of the Year), Reno (Defensive Player of the Year) joined by Hayes, Kareokowsky, Jackson, Domingeaux, Collier, Randall and Conerly-Goodly among league's best

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University senior defensive lineman Kaleb Proctor and linebacker KK Reno took home two of the top individual honors to highlight the No. 15/17 Lion football team's contingent on the All-Southland Conference Teams released by the league office Tuesday.
 
Proctor, a native of Oak Grove, La., was selected as the SLC Player of the Year, while Reno, who hails from New Iberia, La., was tabbed the Southland Defensive Player of the Year.
 
Proctor is the third Southeastern student-athlete in program history to be named Southland Player of the Year, joining former SLU quarterbacks Bryan Bennett (2013) and Cole Kelley (2021). Reno and former Lion linebacker Cqulin Hubert (2013) are the only SLC Defensive Player of the Year winners in program history.
 
Proctor was named a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, which is presented to the FCS national defensive player of the year, earlier in the day Tuesday. He and Reno were two of the leaders of a Lion defense that that ranks among the FCS leaders in scoring defense (17.8, 12th), total defense (295.5, 9th), sacks per game (3.17, 7th), tackles for loss per game (7.3, 9th), first downs allowed (184, 5th) and third down conversion percentage defense (31.9, 12th). 
 
Senior kick returner Brandon Hayes joined Proctor and Reno on the first team.
Junior running back Deantre Jackson, junior wide receiver Jaylon Domingeaux, senior offensive lineman Holden Kareokowsky, senior defensive end Joshua Randall and senior defensive back Ian Conerly-Goodly all represented the Lions on the second team. SLU senior Cade Collier was the second team choice at both tight end and long snapper.
 
Proctor, Reno, Hayes and Conerly-Goodly were all named All-SLC for the second time in their careers, while Jackson, Domingeaux, Kareokowsky, Randall and Collier earned All-Southland accolades for the first time as Lions.
 
SLC champion SFA took home three individual superlative awards, as Sam Vidlak was tabbed Offensive Player of the Year, Erik Gray was named Offensive Lineman of the Year and Colby Carthel was selected Coach of the Year. First-year program UTRGV's Eddie Lee Marburger and Tony Diaz were named Southland Newcomer and Freshman of the Year, respectively.
 
Southeastern's All-SLC honorees will lead the 16th-seeded Southeastern football team into its first round NCAA playoff contest versus No. 17 Illinois State Saturday at noon in Strawberry Stadium.
 
Tickets for Saturday's game are available for purchase online at www.LionSports.net/tickets. SLU season ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase their same seats through Tuesday at 4 p.m. Any tickets not reserved by season ticket holders by the Tuesday deadline will be made available to the general public.
 
The Southeastern Athletics Ticket Office is located in West Stadium. The ticket off will be open 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday of this week.
 
Saturday's game will air on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM, The Boss 97.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM).

Proctor was the leader on and off the field for a Southeastern team that finished the regular season with a 9-1 record versus FCS opposition. Rated as the top FCS interior defensive lineman by PFF with a grade of 90.6 and 36 total pressures, Proctor has drawn all 32 NFL teams to the SLU campus this fall and is projected to be a late-day 2/early-day 3 pick in next spring's NFL Draft. Proctor was named a first team FCS Midseason All-American. He leads the Southland Conference with eight sacks from his defensive tackle position, while also ranking fourth in the league in tackles for loss. Five of his sacks and seven of his tackles for loss came versus Southland Conference competition. He also had two sacks and three tackles for loss at FBS then-No. 3/4 LSU. One of the anchors of a Southeastern defense that ranks among the FCS leaders in scoring defense (17.8, 12th), total defense (295.5, 9th), sacks per game (3.17, 7th), tackles for loss per game (7.3, 9th), first downs allowed (184, 5th) and third down conversion percentage defense (31.9, 12th).

Reno is second in the Southland in tackles per game and leads the league in total tackles. His 118 stops on the year are good for 11th in FCS and are the seventh-highest single-season total in program history. In seven of SLU's FCS wins, the starters didn't play in the fourth quarter, allowing Reno to average a tackle every five snaps played. Reno recorded 80 of his tackles versus SLC competition. He was named Stats Perform FCS National and Southalnd Conference Defensive Player of the Week after recording a career-high 17 tackles in a 10-7 victory at UIW. The performance in the road win was one of seven double-digit tackle performances for Reno, who recorded 16 tackles at Lamar, 14 tackles at then-No.3/4 LSU, 11 tackles at McNeese, as well as 10 tackles at Louisiana Tech, at HCU and versus East Texas A&M. Brandon Hayes | KR | Sr. | Hattiesburg, Miss.
- First Team All-Southland
Hayes leads the Southland Conference and is fourth in the NCAA with 30.7 yards per kickoff return and is one of five FCS players with multiple kickoff return touchdowns this fall. He averaged 35.4 yards per kickoff return versus Southland Conference competition. He returned kickoffs for touchdowns in consecutive weeks in wins over SLC foes Northwestern State and HCU. 
 
Holden Kareokowsky | OL | Sr | New Orleans, La.
- Second Team All-Southland

Kareokowsky served as the starting center for a Southeastern offense that averages 33.3 points per game, including 36.1 points per contest versus SLC competition. The center was named a Phil Steele FCS Midseason All-American for his efforts this fall. One of the offensive captains for the Lions also excels in the classroom, as he was a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, awarded to the nation's top scholar-athlete.

Deantre Jackson | RB | Jr. | New Orleans, La.
- Second Team All-Southland

Jackson is fifth in the league with 10 touchdowns and sixth in the league in rushing yards per game. He scored a league-high nine touchdowns in Southland Conference games. He posted 100-yard rushing performances versus UTRGV and Lamar, while also scoring three touchdowns in a 49-0 win over Northwestern State and two touchdowns in a 38-0 win at McNeese.

Jaylon Domingeaux | WR | Jr. | Lafayette, La.
- Second Team All-Southland

Domingeaux is fourth nationally with 11 receiving touchdowns this fall - the third-highest total in program history. His eight receiving touchdowns in Southland Conference play are tied for the league lead. Domingeaux was named SLC Offensive Player of the Week after posting four catches for 157 yards and two touchdowns in a win over East Texas A&M, before claiming the honor again after a six-catch, 45-yard, three-touchdown showing in a win over Nicholls. He hauled in seven passes for 107 yards and a touchdown in a 45-31 victory over UTRGV. Domingeaux also caught three touchdowns versus Mississippi Valley State, while also grabbing scoring tosses versus McNeese and Northwestern State.

- Second Team All-Southland (LS)

Collier was the starting tight end for an explosive Southeastern offense that averaged 33.3 points per game. He caught touchdowns in road victories over Murray State and HCU. Collier served as the long snapper on punts for the fourth consecutive season and finished his career without an errant snap. He also recovered a fumble on a muffed punt in a 38-14 win at HCU. 

Joshua Randall | DL | Sr. | New Orleans, La.
- Second Team All-Southland

Randall was second on the team and third in the SLC with 5.5 sacks with five coming in Southland Conference play. Randall recorded sacks in wins over UTRGV, McNeese, Northwestern State, HCU and UIW. 

Ian Conerly-Goodly | DB | Sr. | Covington, La.
- Second Team All-Southland

Conerly-Goodly led Southeastern with three interceptions for a Lion pass defense that leads the SLC and ranks seventh in FCS with 162.4 passing yards allowed per game. Conerly-Goodly returned an interception 33 yards for a touchdown in a 38-0 victory at McNeese. All three of his picks came in Southland Conference wins, as he also intercepted passes versus UTRGV and East Texas A&M. He recorded a season-high nine tackles in season opener at Louisiana Tech.
