Southeastern Visits Southern Miss Tuesday

SLU (1-2) will end its road trip at Southern Miss (4-0)

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team will end its stretch of road matchups on Tuesday, when SLU faces off with Southern Miss, at 5 p.m. in Reed Green Coliseum.
 
Tuesday's contest between Southeastern (1-2) and the Lady Eagles (4-0) will be streamed live on ESPN+. It can also be heard on KSLU 90.9 The Lion, online at either www.LionSports.net/listenlive or www.LionUpRadio.org, via the following apps – Lions Gameday Experience, Live365, iHeart, Audacy, TuneIn and MyTuner Radio - or on Alexa speakers (skill must be enabled first). All you have to say is, "Alexa, play K.S.L.U."
 
After splitting the first two games of the season, the Lady Lions put up a solid performance in a loss to Arkansas on Thursday, leading by as many as five points in the game.
 
In the Arkansas game, SLU had four student-athletes score in double figures. Mari Dangerfield's 14 points on 5-for-10 shooting, led the way for the Lady Lions, draining four three-pointers. Through three games, Natalie Huff has averaged 9.7 points per game, scoring 13 against the Razorbacks.
 
On the defensive end of the floor, Huff has 10 steals through three games. Also making an impact, Eryn McKinzie had a game-high two blocks against Arkansas. Taylor Ross continues to be the Lady Lions' leader in rebounds, averaging 5.7 per game, after bringing in seven on Thursday.
 
After four games, the Lady Eagles have five players averaging scoring in double figures, led by Meloney Thames, who has averaged 13.3 points per game, shooting 60.0% from beyond the three-point line. As a team, Southern Miss is shooting 43% from three-point range.
 
In its last matchup, Southern Miss defeated Jacksonville State on Thursday, getting a 67-61 win after an eight-point deficit. In that contest, Jakayla Johnson led the team with 17 points, also tying a team-high of eight rebounds.
 
Southeastern's all-time record against Southern Miss is 5-7. The teams last met in the 2024-25 season with the Lady Lions winning, 68-61, in Hammond.
 
The Lady Lions will return to Hammond, Saturday, when SLU hosts Southland Conference opponent East Texas A&M in the University Center at 1 p.m. Saturday's game will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on KSLU 90.9 The Lion, online at either www.LionSports.net/listenlive or www.LionUpRadio.org, via the following apps – Lions Gameday Experience, Live365, iHeart, Audacy, TuneIn and MyTuner Radio - or on Alexa speakers (skill must be enabled first). Saturday's home contest against East Texas A&M is Green Out Night. Fans are encouraged to wear green to support the Lady Lions. Fans can stick around after the game for a post-game autograph session to meet their favorite players. Natalie Huff will be Southeastern's Spotlight Player of the Game. The first 150 fans at the game will receive a trading card featuring the SLU guard, courtesy of PRIDE.
