Reno Claims Stats Perform FCS National and Southland Player of the Week Honors

SLU linebacker recorded career-high 17 tackles in 10-7 win at UIW

HAMMOND, La. – After helping the No. 21/23 Southeastern Louisiana University football team to a 10-7 victory at UIW, SLU linebacker KK Reno received a pair of Defensive Player of the Week accolades Monday.

Reno became the first Lion to receive a national weekly honor this fall, as he was named the Stats Perform FCS National Defensive Player of the Week. The New Iberia, La. native also received Defensive Player of the Week honors from the Southland Conference.

Reno is the fourth Southeastern player to receive weekly recognition from the league joining teammates Brandon Hayes (Oct. 27), Jaylon Domingeaux (Nov. 3) and D'Khai Joseph (Nov. 3).

For the second straight week, Reno set a new single-game career high for tackles. After record 16 stops at Lamar Nov. 8, Reno was credited with 17 tackles in Saturday's win in San Antonio.

Reno has been a tackling machine for Southeastern throughout the season, as his 110 tackles are good for 11th in FCS and tied for the 10th-highest single-season total in program history. He's been one of the leaders of a SLU defense that has allowed 11.8 points per game versus FCS competition and held six of seven Southland opponents to 14 points or less.

Southeastern will close out the 2025 regular season at home Thursday at 6 p.m. The Lions welcome Nicholls (4-7, 4-3 SLC) for the annual River Bell Classic. Thursday's game will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM, The Boss 97.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM).

Approximately 40 minutes prior to the game, Southeastern will recognize the senior class of Reno, Hayes, Kaleb Proctor, Khamron Ford, Blayne Delahoussaye, Rodeo Graham Jr., Rowan Briggs, Tyler Mansfield, Jordyn Williams, Luke Besh, Corey Lorio, Jaedon Henry, Ian Conerly-Goodly, Guillermo Garcia Rodriguez, Justin Dumas, Noah Devlin, Javin Turner, Dalton Allen, Holden Kareokowsky, Da'shun Hugley, Jett Booker, Cade Collier, Ahmad Bradley and head equipment manager Cade Genovese in a Senior Day ceremony.
