HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's soccer team will travel to Lamar Thursday at 7 p.m. before hosting conference rival Nicholls Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium.
SLU (3-5-3, 2-1-1 SLC) continues its two-match road stretch against Lamar (4-5-4, 1-1-3 SLC) in Beaumont, Texas to open week four of Southland Conference play. Thursday's match will mark the 20th match against the Cardinals in program history as last season the Southeastern recorded a 2-1 victory at home.
The Lady Lions will close the week at home against Nicholls (4-7-1, 1-3 SLC) for the fifth Crystal Cup rivalry match. Both matches will be televised on ESPN+ and live stats can be accessed on the women's soccer schedule page at www.LionSports.net.

Southeastern is looking to regain its footing in the winning category after suffering its first conference loss of the season. The Lady Lions fell 2-1 to Northwestern State on the road in their lone conference match last week. Freshman Alexandra Knight contributed her second goal of the season against the Lady Demons to put SLU on the board and equalize the match. Northwestern State rallied to regain the lead in the final minutes of the match to secure the victory. Southeastern goalkeeper Kendall Curran finished with four saves, totaling 990 minutes in the net so far this season.
Lamar finished 0-1-1 last week to end week three of league play after dropping 3-2 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and tying 1-1 to reigning SLC champion Stephen F. Austin. Lamar has posted 28 goals this season led by junior forward Lauren Smith contributing 10 goals. The Cardinals have also relied on Cena Carlson with three goals and three assists alongside Anneliese Switzer with three goals. Lamar has recorded 188 shots, 103 shots on goal, 47 saves and 28 assists to rank sixth in conference standings. Eloise Bywater has handled the majority of the responsibility in the net for the Cardinals with 42 saves and a 1.61 goals against average this season.
Nicholls ended last week 0-2 after suffering a 2-1 loss to McNeese and a 2-0 sweep against East Texas A&M. The Colonels seeking to bounce back from week three have recorded 15 goals this season along with 123 shots, 63 saves, 58 shots on goal and six assists. Nicholls is led by senior forward Avery Mondoux with five goals, one assist and two game winners. The senior claimed the game winning goal against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to help the Colonels secure their first conference victory since 2018. Goalkeeper Aislinn Wright has protected the net for Nicholls with 54 saves, playing 991 minutes this season.
Sunday's match against the Colonels, fans are encouraged to come out and support the Lady Lions for bragging rights against the in-state rivals for the Crystal Cup. Concluding Sunday's match, Southeastern will return on the road to face UIW Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. Thursday's match against the Cardinals will be streamed on ESPN+.
