HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University football team moved up three spots to No. 19 in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll.
 
SLU (5-2, 3-0 SLC) made its 2025 debut in the AFCA FCS Coaches Top 25 last Monday at No. 22. The Lions are still curiously on the outside looking in of the Stats Perform FCS Top 25, though Southeastern is the top team among those receiving votes.
 
The Lions rolled to a 49-0 victory over SLC foe Northwestern State to celebrate Homecoming last Saturday. The shutout win was the second straight for SLU, marking the first time since 1960 Southeastern has posted consecutive shutout wins.
 
Southeastern is one of three SLC teams in the AFCA FCS Coaches Top 25, along with No. 15 Lamar and No. 24 SFA, while UTRGV is receiving votes. The Stats Perform FCS Top 25 includes No. 15 Lamar and No. 24 SFA with SLU receiving votes.
 
The Lions hit the road Saturday for a 2 p.m. Southland Conference contest at HCU. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network.
