Southeastern Hits the Road for Pair of SLC Matches

SLU (13-5, 5-1 SLC) travels to UTRGV (Thursday, 6:30 p.m.) and TAMU-CC (Saturday, 1 p.m.)

HAMMOND, La. – The two-time reigning Southland Conference regular season champion Southeastern Louisiana University indoor volleyball team heads to Texas for a pair of conference road matches this week.

SLU (13-5, 5-1 SLC) will open the trip with a 6:30 p.m. match at UTRGV (10-7, 5-1 SLC) Thursday. The Lady Lions and Vaqueros are two of four teams currently tied for second place in the Southland Conference standings – a game behind league-leading SFA.

Saturday will see Southeastern meet up with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (6-12, 2-4 SLC) in a rematch of last season's SLC Tournament championship match. Both of this week's matches will be televised on ESPN+.

SLU shook off its first conference loss at SFA, returning home to handle Northwestern State and East Texas A&M. The victories ran Southeastern's perfect 2025 home record to 8-0.

The Lady Lions enter the week atop the league with 13.54 kills per set, while ranking second in points per set (17.28), assists per set (12.11) and hitting percentage (.242). Kyra McKelvey leads SLU with 3.66 kills per set, 166.5 points and a .342 hitting percentage.

Alexis Logarbo is second on the team with 2.46 kills per set and is hitting at a .327 clip. Ashley Richardson (6.21 assists per set) and Peyton Stokley (5.45) have effectively shared setting duties through the first 18 matches.

Southeastern leads the Southland with 2.54 team blocks per set. India Bennett's SLC-high 1.77 blocks per set are good for third in all of Division I, while Logarbo (0.98 blocks per set, 6th) also is in the league's top 10. Libero Lexi Gonzalez boasts a team-high 3.95 digs per set for a SLU defense that is yielding a .176 opposing hitting percentage.

UTRGV carries a four-match winning streak into Thursday's match. Martina Franco is one of four Vaqueros averaging multiple kills per set and leads the team with 3.46 kills per set. Isabella Constantini (9.78 assists per set), Celianiz Cabranes (4.51 digs per set) and Julianna Bryant (1.04 blocks per set) are the other leaders for the Vaqueros.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi heads into the week having lost three of its last four. The Islanders are led by Logan Dyer's 2.43 kills per set. Virginia Van Der Werff (9.63 assists per set) and Brooklyn Jaeger (4.68 digs per set) are among the other TAMU-CC standouts.

Following this week's action, SLU will close out its three-match road swing Oct. 22 with a 1 p.m. midweek matinee at UIW. The match at the Cardinals will air on ESPN+.
