HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball team wraps up its four-game homestand this weekend as the Lions host New Orleans and Lamar Saturday and Monday, respectively, at the University Center.
Southeastern (12-9, 6-4 SLC) looks for its third-straight regular season sweep against the Privateers (4-17, 2-8 SLC) when the two teams collide for the second time this season at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday while Monday's game against Lamar (12-9, 7-3 SLC) is set for 6 p.m. with both contests taking place in the University Center.
Both contests will be televised on ESPN+ with a radio broadcast also available, thanks to the Southeastern Sports Radio Network, on 90.9 FM The Lion in the Hammond/Ponchatoula area and worldwide on LionSports.net/ListenLive or LionUpRadio.org, or you can listen to the game on smart devices through the Lions Gameday Experience app or the MyTuner Radio app. Live stats will also be available on LionSports.net.
Saturday's game against UNO will also be the annual Pink Out Game for Breast Cancer Awareness. All fans coming to the University Center are encouraged to wear pink to show awareness of the disease and support for those who have fought and are fighting the disease.
The Lions are looking to get back on the winning path after a tough, 70-62 loss to Houston Christian on Monday.
Sam Hines, Jr. had his third straight 20-point game, scoring 23 against the Huskies while grabbing six rebounds with three steals and two assists.
Brody Rowbury hit four of his five shot attempts and scored 14 points with seven rebounds.
Hines, Jr. continues to lead SLU in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.7 points and 6.4 rebounds a contest. He hits on 51.9 percent of his shot attempts and 47.1 percent from three-point range on the year.
Jakevion Buckley averages 12.8 points per game on 46.4 percent shooting while leading the team in assists at 4.1 dimes per game.
Jeremy Elyzee averages 9.9 points per game on 48.3 percent shooting. He grabs 4.9 rebounds a contest while leading the team in blocks with 15 on the season.
Kam Burton is still Southeastern's top three-point threat, hitting 39 this season while connecting on 37.1 percent from distance. He's a 40.8 percent shooter overall in 2024-25, averaging eight points per game.
The Lions average 72 points per game on the year while hitting 45.2 percent from the field and 33.2 percent from three-point range. SLU's opponents average 68.4 points per game while hitting 42.6 percent from the floor and 30.9 percent from three-point range on the year.
UNO comes into Saturday's game on a three-game losing streak, dropping their last contest at home on Monday 74-58 to Incarnate Word.
James White led the Privateers with 15 points and three steals against the Cardinals. Jah Short had 13 points and six assists while both MJ Thomas and Jamond "Turk" Vincent both scored 10. Thomas grabbed a team-high six rebounds and blocked a shot.
White leads the Privateers in scoring and rebounds on the season with 19.2 points and seven boards a contest. He hits 42.9 percent of his shots and 33 percent from three-point range.
UNO's next top scorer is Short, who is averaging 9.2 points per game while leading the Privateers in assists with 3.3 per game.
Thomas is UNO's top shot blocker with 13 on the season..
Dae Dae Hunter is UNO's top three-point threat, having hit 39 from beyond the arc this season. He hits 38.6 percent from deep while hitting 37.5 percent from the field overall this season.
UNO averages 67.4 points per game this season and hits 40.3 percent from the field while scoring on 31.4 percent from beyond the arc. Privateer opponents average 83.4 points per game and hit on 47.5 percent from the field while hitting on 35.5 percent from beyond the three-point arc. Southeastern defeated New Orleans 91-71 back on Jan. 11.
Lamar starts its weekend on a three-game win streak, looking to avoid a season sweep at the hands of Stephen F. Austin as the Cardinals head to Nacogdoches before coming to Hammond, America on Monday night.
In its last contest, a 69-59 home win over Northwestern State, Lamar was led by Alexis Marmolejos, who scored 14 points, making three three-pointers in the contest. Ja'Sean Jackson and Adam Hamilton both scored 13 points with Hamilton getting a double-double by also grabbing 14 rebounds while Jackson also hit three three-pointers. Danquez Dawsey came off the bench to score 10 points while leading the team in assists with three.
Marmolejos is Lamar's leading scorer, averaging 15.4 points per game. He hits 43.2 percent from the field and is the team's top three-point shooter, having hit 52 three-point shots at a 39.7 percent clip.
Jackson averages 11.8 points per game on 42.6 percent shooting and 37.2 percent from three-point range while leading the Cardinals in assists, with four a game, and steals, with 1.5 per game.
Andrew Holifield averages 10.6 points per game while hitting 46.1 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from deep. He leads Lamar blocked shots, with 1.9 per game, while grabbing six per rebounds a game.
Hamilton is Lamar's top rebounder, grabbing 6.9 per game while scoring 9.6 points on 50.6 percent shooting. He also blocks 1.6 opposing shots per game.
Lamar averages 72 points per game while hitting 43.4 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from beyond the arc. The Cardinals allow 67.3 points per game while opponents hit 40.9 percent from the field and 31.3 percent from three-point range against Lamar. This is the lone scheduled meeting between the Lions and Cardinals this season.
The Lions head back on the road for the return games against UIW and HCU before coming home for another four-game homestand.
