HAMMOND, La. – The reigning
, two-time Southland Conference Champion Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team looks to push its win streak in SLC matches to 20 and beyond as it heads on the road for matches against New Orleans and McNeese this week.
The Lady Lions (10-4, 2-0 SLC) will open both matches, Tuesday night against the Privateers (2-11, 0-1 SLC) and Thursday against the Cowgirls (4-9, 0-1 SLC), at 6:30 p.m. and both will be televised on ESPN+ with live stats also available.
Southeastern won its 19
th-straight Southland match on Saturday as the Lady Lions held off a furious comeback attempt by Incarnate Word by defeating the Cardinals in five sets in the University Center. That win was also the team's 10
th win in a row overall and 22
nd-straight win over Southland teams, a streak which includes SLU's two wins in the SLC Tournament in 2023 as well as the win over Stephen F. Austin in El Paso which started the current 10-match win streak.
Cicily Hidalgo led all scorers in the win over UIW with 25 points on 23 kills, with a .346 attack percentage, and four block assists.
Hannah Brewer scored 18.5 points on 16 kills while hitting .268 to go with two service aces and a block assist. Both had double-doubles with Hidalgo collecting 16 digs while Brewer had 24 in the win.
Alexis Logarbo had 13.5 points on 13 kills and a block assist while
Kyra McKelvey had 11 points, all coming off kills and a .409 attack percentage.
Hidalgo remains as Southeastern's top scoring threat, averaging 3.9 points per set while scoring 3.42 kills per set on a .246 attack percentage. She also has 27 total blocks and nine service aces on the season to help in her scoring. When she's in the back row, she's one of the top defenders for SLU, averaging 3.0 digs per set.
Brewer leads a pack of five Lady Lions scoring more than two points per set, averaging 2.86. She scores 2.22 kills per set while leading the team in service aces with 17 after putting down six in last week's wins against Lamar and UIW. She's even with Hidalgo in terms of blocks with 27 total while also getting 2.49 digs per set.
Alexis Logarbo averages 2.45 points per set by getting 2.08 kills per set with a .257 attack percentage while doing a lot of her damage at the net with 38 total blocks on the year.
Keira Beverly scores 2.35 points per set as she's been part of 49 total blocks to help her 1.68 kills per set and pair of service aces. McKelvey scores 2.33 points per set on 2.17 kills per set with eight total blocks.
India Bennett scores 2.12 points per set and is SLU's team leader in blocks with 59 this season while getting 1.68 kills per set.
On the serve,
Lexi Gonzalez is right behind Brewer in terms of aces with 15 while
Ashley Richardson has 11 and
Gracie Duplechein has 10. Richardson and Duplechein make a formidable pair of setters running the Lady Lion offense with Duplechein averaging 5.47 assists per set while Richardson tallies 5.23 assists per set. Gonzalez leads the back line as the libero, averaging 3.1 digs per set this season.
UNO enters Tuesday's match looking to end a six-match losing streak that has seen them drop their last 12 sets. In their most recent contest, a straight-sets loss to Lamar, the Privateers were led on offense by Courtney Roundtree with seven kills, three total blocks, and an ace for 10.5 points while Divine Muo had six kills and a block for seven points.
Roundtree leads the UNO attack with 2.87 points per set on 2.2 kills per set while hitting .252 on the season. She leads the Privateers in blocks with 34 on the year while adding six service aces to propel her into the team's scoring lead.
Chelsea Daffin is UNO's top attacker, averaging 2.22 kills per set on her way to 2.49 points per set this season. She's also tied atop the team in terms of service aces with 10, matched only by Molly Kehoe, while also being a part of three blocks. Daffin leads the Privateers in digs, getting 2.76 per set.
Jaedyn Newman averages 2.09 points per set on 1.97 kills per set with a service ace and five blocks. Buse Kocakaya is the final Privateer averaging two points per set, right at 2.0 as she scores 1.69 kills per set with nine total blocks and three service aces.
Defne Eciroglu and Alexis Belarmino run the UNO offense, averaging 4.51 and 3.92 assists per set, respectively.
McNeese starts its week of action on Thursday against the Lady Lions, looking to end a four-match slide which included a four-set defeat at the hands of the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions on Saturday.
In the loss to Commerce, McKenzie Moore had 25 kills, three service aces, and two total blocks to account for 28.5 points. Lacie Schooley scored 12 kills with three total blocks and an ace for 14.5 points and had the second-most assists in the match for the Cowgirls with 16. Megan Grose finished with eight kills, five total, blocks, and an ace for 11.5 points, all while leading the team in assists in the match with 20.
Moore is McNeese's focal point on the offense, averaging 4.7 points per set while getting 4.2 kills per set on a .235 attack percentage. She also has the second-most blocks for McNeese with 31 while also adding seven service aces to her scoring total.
Kayla Wilson, who has missed McNeese's last five matches, is the only other Cowgirl averaging more than two points and two kills per set this season. She's at 2.57 points and 2.32 kills per set while also being a part of 10 total blocks and had a service ace.
Grose runs the McNeese offense, averaging 5.76 assists per set. Schooley is the best Cowgirl on the serve as her 10 aces leads the team. Naterah Moore's 38 blocks leads McNeese at the net while Bailey Tillman continues to be respected as one of the SLC's best liberos, leading the Cowgirls of the back line with 4.46 digs per set this season.
Regardless of the results this week, the Lady Lions won't have to wait long to see both of these teams again as UNO and McNeese both make the return trip to Hammond, America next week to close out the season series, sandwiched around a match against Nicholls, which will also be in the University Center, for a three-match-in-five-day homestand for Southeastern.
