Southeastern Closes Non-Conference Against Tarleton State

The Lady Lions will end their four-game road stretch against Tarleton State to close out non conference

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's soccer team returns to action in Stephenville, Texas to face Tarleton State in a 11 a.m. match Thursday morning at the Tarleton Soccer Complex.

The game between Southeastern (1-3-1) and Tarleton State (5-3-3) will be televised on ESPN+. Live stats, provided by the host, can be accessed on the women's soccer schedule page at www.LionSports.net.

Southeastern is coming off a bye week after suffering two losses on the road earlier this month. The Lady Lions lost 4-1 to Miami before falling 6-1 to FIU to end their two-game road stretch in Florida. Seniors Kelsey Fuller and Hannah McCord found the net to help Southeastern avoid the shutout.

Fuller leads the team in scoring with two goals alongside McCord, Nicole O'Neill, Katie Brown and Rylee Franklin who have each contributed to SLU's six goals this season. The Lady Lions hold an 8.6 percent advantage over opponents in shots on goal after the last five matches. Goalkeepers Anna Blankenship and Kendall Curran have split responsibility in the net with 25 combined saves.

Tarleton State finished 1-1 last week against fellow conference opponents. The Texans fell 1-0 to Northwestern State before defeating HCU with a 2-0 shutout to end the week. Tarleton has 12 players that have contributed to its 19 goals this season led by sophomore Lauren Grissom (4). Midfielder Jaycie Bass leads the Texans with four out of their 12 assists so far this season. Goalkeeper Mikayla Kendall handles the majority of the weight in the net for Tarleton State with 53 saves and 0.62 goals against average.

After Thursday's match, Southeastern will return to Strawberry Stadium to host McNeese Sunday evening at 6 p.m. for its conference opener. Youth sports teams are encouraged to wear their jerseys for Youth Sports Night and pack the stands. Fans are also encouraged to stay after the match to receive post-game autographs from the Lady Lions. Sunday's match will be aired on ESPN+.
