HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's soccer team will return to the field Sunday afternoon to face South Alabama at 1 p.m. for its last non conference match at Strawberry Stadium.
The match between Southeastern (0-0-1) and South Alabama (1-1) will be televised on ESPN+. Live stats can be accessed on the women's soccer schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
SLU tied with SWAC preseason favorite Grambling State (2-1-1) in the season opener at home last week.
The Lady Lions are seeking their first win of the season before their four-game road stretch leading into conference play. In its match versus the Lady Tigers, Southeastern attempted eight shots with four shots on goal led by junior Emma Ramsey. Goalkeepers Kendall Curan and Anna Blakenship split time in the net and enter Sunday's match with two saves.
South Alabama gained its first win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Louisiana Tech (0-1-2) Thursday evening after falling 3-0 to LSU (1-0) in the opening week. The Jaguars attempted 10 shots with four shots on goal led by sophomore midfielder Irene Campo. South Alabama secured an early lead in the first five minutes of the half as April Lantaigne found the net. Campo solidified the win with the second goal for the Jaguars to extend their lead. Goalkeeper Allison Luckhardt finished with three saves in Thursday's contest and enters Sunday's match with seven saves for the Jaguars.
Fans are encouraged to stick around after Sunday's match for post-game autographs with the Lady Lions. Southeastern will return to action in Jackson, Miss. Friday, Aug. 30 against Jackson State at 3 p.m.
