HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University football team closed out its second week of fall camp with a morning practice Saturday at Strawberry Stadium.
For the second straight Saturday, the Lions had officials in attendance at their practice. The defense had the upper hand for the majority of the game situation portions of practice.
"We would like to see more balanced on both sides of the ball," Southeastern head coach
Frank Scelfo commented. "We had a really good day defensively, but our offense had a few costly mistakes today after stacking some good days earlier in the week. We kept putting ourselves off schedule with penalties and that's hard to overcome."
Next week will be the final full week of fall camp and Scelfo wants his team to continue to progress.
"We need to establish leaders on both sides of the ball so we can fight through the adversity," Scelfo commented. "Everyone has had the opportunity to showcase who they are through the first two weeks, so we'll see the ones who've earned playing time get the majority of the reps."
Southeastern will practice at 9 a.m. Monday through Saturday until the first day of school Aug. 21. From that point forward, the Lions will begin practicing at 3:50 p.m. on weekdays during the season.
All season ticket holders will be able to pickup their season tickets at the Football Season Ticket Pickup Party Aug. 24 from 9-11 a.m. in the Strawberry Stadium west concourse. Refreshments will be available and fans who have not yet purchased season tickets will be able to do so at the event, which will not be held in conjunction with a Lion practice.
Southeastern opens the 2024 season with a 7 p.m. contest at Tulane Aug. 29 on ESPN+ and the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM).
