SAN ANTONIO – Southeastern Louisiana University head coach Frank Scelfo, along with senior offensive linemen Jhy Orgeron and Brockhim Wicks, will represent the SLU football program at the Southland Conference Football Opening Drive Sunday and Monday at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.
 
The Southland Conference will air all 10 football institutions press conferences Monday at 10 a.m. on ESPN+. Southeastern's contingent will air at 10:25 a.m. A full Opening Drive broadcast, featuring more content from the event, will be available Wednesday at 10 a.m. on ESPN+.
 
In addition to the press conferences, coaches and student-athletes will also participate in social media creative content and segments during the two-day event, which fans can follow live on the Southland Conference social media accounts.
 
Scelfo is entering his seventh season at the helm of the Southeastern program and heads into the 2024 season with a 37-31 overall record with the Lions, including a 28-17 mark versus SLC competition. The 2019 and 2022 Southland Conference Coach of the Year has led SLU to three NCAA FCS playoff appearances and the 2022 conference title.
 
Since taking over the program, the Abbeville, Louisiana native has built his Southeastern program with in-state products, such as Orgeron and Wicks. Wicks, a Plaquemine native, and Orgeron, who hails from Galliano, made up the starting right side of the offensive line in 2023 and are expected to be two of the team's leaders this fall.
 
Both Lions have shown versatility throughout their Southeastern career. Orgeron took over at left tackle in 2022 and earned All-SLC honors, while Wicks was the starting right tackle that fall. Orgeron switched to right tackle last season with Wicks moving inside to right guard.
 
The Lions will report to campus July 28 and open fall practice July 29. Southeastern opens the 2024 season with a 7 p.m. contest at Tulane Aug. 29 on ESPN+ and the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM).
