HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University football team announced a revised 2024 football schedule Thursday coming off the heels of Wednesday's announcement of Stephen F. Austin joining the Southland Conference.
 
With the revision of the 2024 football slate, SLU will have six home games in Strawberry Stadium for the first time since 2014.
 
The nonconference schedule remains the same. The Lions will open the 2024 campaign at Tulane on Thursday, Aug. 29 and will also travel to Southern Miss (Sept. 7) and Tarleton State (Sept. 28). Southeastern will host Eastern Washington (Sept. 14) and two-time reigning FCS national champion South Dakota State (Sept. 21) in nonconference play.
 
SLU will welcome four Southland opponents to Hammond, America, starting with Texas A&M-Commerce Oct. 5. The previously announced Homecoming date of Oct. 19 will remain the same, as Stephen F. Austin visits Strawberry Stadium on that day for the first time since 2019.
 
League foes UIW (Oct. 26) and Northwestern State (Nov. 9) will also be hosted by the Lions. Southeastern will travel to HCU (Oct. 12), Lamar (Nov. 2) and Nicholls (Nov. 21) during conference play.
 
Each conference school will have one league opponent that it won't face this fall. The SLU-McNeese, HCU-Lamar, Nicholls-Texas A&M-Commerce and UIW-Northwestern State series will be paused in 2024. SFA will play all eight other conference foes, but its game versus A&M-Commerce will not count as a conference game.
 
The Lions will report to campus July 28 and open fall camp July 29.
