Caldwell Named SLC Student-Athlete of the Year, Rowbury All-Academic

Both Earn First Career All-Academic Honors

FRISCO, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball team earned a couple honors for its work in the classroom as Nick Caldwell was named the Southland Conference's Student-Athlete of the Year while Brody Rowbury also joined him on the All-Academic First Team, the SLC office announced on Friday.
 
Caldwell, a senior guard/forward from Prairieville, La., adds the SLC Student-Athlete of the Year award and SLC All-Academic First Team honor to the laundry list of awards he's won this season, which includes two SLC Player of the Week awards, two Louisiana Player of the Week awards, one Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week award, All-Southland Conference First Team, All-District 22 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, and All-Louisiana Second Team.
 
While leading the Lions in scoring, shooting percentage, and blocks during the season where he also broke the SLU career games played record and joined the 1,000 points scored club, he was also being a leader in the classroom where he held a cumulative GPA of 3.667 while majoring in strategic communications.
 
Rowbury, a sophomore forward from Meridian, Idaho, earns his first postseason award by being named to the SLC All-Academic First Team. A starter all season for the Lions, he averaged 8.7 points and 5.7 rebounds on the season while shooting at a 50.9% clip.
 
While he was running the paint for the Lions on the court, in the classroom he was maintaining a 3.377 cumulative GPA while majoring in business administration.
 
Southeastern finished the 2023-24 season with a 15-17 overall record with a 10-8 record in the Southland Conference which slotted them into fifth-place in the conference's final standings.
