CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team completed a Southland Conference series sweep of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with a 5-0 shutout victory Saturday afternoon at Chapman Field.
Southeastern (33-7, 10-2 SLC) extended its win streak to 10 games with the victory over the host Islanders (19-14, 7-8 SLC).
Cera Blanchard (13-1) tossed four scoreless innings to win her 10
th consecutive decision. She,
Ellie DuBois and
Mary-Cathryn (MC) Comeaux scattered seven hits on the way to combining for the team's 12
th shutout of the season.
Audrey Greely led Southeastern at the plate. The senior from Geismar, Louisiana was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI.
Blanchard pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the first, then took the lead in the top of the second versus Islander ace Primrose Aholelei (13-7). An RBI single by Greely scored pinch runner
Brilee Broussard and gave SLU a 1-0 lead.
Southeastern added to its advantage in the top of the fourth inning.
Maria Detillier singled, then scored on a throwing error by the Islanders. Later in the frame, Greely singled home another run to put the Lady Lions up, 3-0.

Ariel Gomez singled home Watson to add to the Lady Lions' advantage. Later in the frame,
Chloe Magee scored on an Islander throwing error to put SLU up, 5-0.
The Islanders threatened in the final innings, but could not break through against Lady Lion pitching. DuBois stranded runners in the fifth and sixth innings, then Comeaux shook off a two-out double by Taniece Tyson to toss a scoreless seventh to close out the shutout.
The Lady Lions will next head to Baton Rouge to face LSU in a 6 p.m. nonconference contest Wednesday to close out a four-game road swing. The game will be televised on SEC Network+.
The Southeastern Athletics Ticket Office will be accepting donations to the Lion Food Pantry from April 8-12 and are collecting ramen noodles, rice, pasta and granola bars. Anyone who donates will receive a free ticket to either the April 23 softball doubleheader or the baseball contests on April 23 or 24.
