Senior Adds State Honor to All-Conference & All-District Awards

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball senior guard/forward Nick Caldwell picked up another honor for his play in 2023-24, being named Second Team All-Louisiana on Wednesday by the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association (LSWA).

Caldwell, a senior from Prairieville, La. who broke the Southeastern record for most games played and joined the 1,000 points scored club this season, finished the year as the team's leading scorer on the year, averaging 15.4 points per game on 52.9% shooting and 42.3% on three-point shots. He was also the team's top shot blocker, rejecting 0.9 opposing shots per game. He had SLU's first 30-point game in two years when he tallied 30 points against Lamar on Feb. 19th.

This is Caldwell's first All-Louisiana postseason honor, and joins two Louisiana Player of the Week honors which were bestowed upon him by the LSWA during the season. He also earned two Southland Conference Player of the Week honors, an Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week honor from the United States Basketball Writers Association, was named First Team All-Southland Conference, and Second Team All-District 22 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Southeastern finished the 2023-24 season with a 15-17 overall record with a 10-8 record in the Southland Conference which slotted them into fifth-place in the conference's final standings.
