HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball head coach
David Kiefer has announced the signing of a top high school recruit from Florida as Jeremy Elyzee has put pen to paper to join the Lions for the upcoming season.
Elyzee, a 6-6 small forward, is coming off a season where he led Pembroke Pines Charter School to its second-ever Florida state championship this year. In that Finals, he scored 22 points, giving the Jaguars their second championship in four seasons.
For his play during the year, Elyzee was named Broward County's Player of the Year for classes 6A and 7A by the
South Florida Sun Sentinel while also being named the county's Player of the Year in classes 5A through 7A by the
Miami Herald. In the 2023-24 campaign, he averaged 17.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.1 blocks per game.
"We are really excited about the signing of Jeremy Elyzee," said Kiefer. "Jeremy was Player of the Year in Broward County, won a state championship, and was the finals MVP. He comes from a great program and understands winning. He is a versatile player that I think can come in and help us right away."
Elyzee is expected to join the team and be ready for the start of the 2024-25 season.
